There are two of these forts, designed to protect Chatham Dockyard from seaborne attack. They would have originally carried large calibre rifled muzzle loading guns at the ports. The forts started sinking in the mud during construction. Loved the drone footage.

Wow, so very happy to see this video, it brings back wonderful memories of our two trips out of Manila to visit Corregidor Island. We are experiencing a quasi-lockdown once again, this time due to the Omicron variant. Not a lot of places open for a visit right now. After the Spanish-American war, the US built a "super fortress" on Corregidor to protect the entrance to Manila bay and the city. The only non-original feature is the Corregidor inn, built to accommodate those who want to stay for longer than the day tour and become more deeply immersed in the history. More adventurous folks can bring their gear for camping or come ashore from their own boats for diner at the inn and or camping if they wish. At night you have the sounds of the jungle and troupes of Macaques will entertain you as they make attempts to steal handbags or anything they can carry off that may contain food. Simon, your comment about rats possibly nibbling your toes also caused me to remember watching a small Philippine cobra under one of the gun emplacements. The snake was busy holding on to a freshly caught bat so we had a great view from a still safe distance while the snake was occupied with a meal. We also have scorpions here. If ever you come to visit Luzon, I suggest a hammock (with bug net) and ALWAYS check your boots in the AM unless you keep them off the ground and with you. Great video Man, we loved every minute of it.
