Review of the budget Neewer FR-16 and FCR-16 remote triggers and speedlight control. These triggers are really simple to use, reliable and can be used to either remote control an off camera flash or as a remote control to take pictures.

Very useful. Thanks. I’m using this with a Nikon D7500 and when I use the flash remotely the camera exposes as if I’m not using a flash so everything gets overexposed. Any ideas?

Great video! I just purchased this kit for my Nikon. Question, is it possible to use the remote trigger (looking to self-take new headshots) with the flash attached? I have not been able to figure out how to have my camera on a tripod with the external flash connected and use the remote to take photos that include a heavy flash.

Hi, Thanks for the video. I was hoping you could tell me whether the camera remote release works in bulb mode i.e. if you press and hold the shutter button, does the camera shutter stay open when you take your thumb off the button? Then if you press the shutter button again, does the camera shutter close?
@PhotographyEnthusiast
@PhotographyEnthusiast 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Howard, yes, this works. You need a camera with an accessory port (my d5600 has one, my Z50 does not) to plug in the trigger receiver. For this to work, set the camera in Bulb mode and press and hold the button on the remote for more than about 3 seconds (if you press and release, it takes a short exposure), when you press the button again, it finishes the exposure. If you are just after a remote trigger, you could use Snapbrige from you mobile phone (Android or IoS), this works via a direct WiFi connection to the camera and works equally well on my D5600 and Z50 (an I suspect would with any WiFi/Snapbridge enabled Nikon cameras.

Might seem a daft question, but do these remotes allow you to shoot a photo at a faster speed than 1/200? I have a Neewer 750II and it works off the IR signal from my camera flash, but the cameras fastest speed is only 1/200 when using the (in built) flash. In other words do I need my camera flash popped up to use this?
@PhotographyEnthusiast
@PhotographyEnthusiast 4 жыл бұрын
The 1/200 is to do with the max flash sync speed. As I understand it, if you were able to set the speed to greater than 1/200 you would get a dark horizontal bar across the image.

Maybe a silly question, but, if using as a remote shutter trigger, can you also mount the flash on camera (above receiver) and have it fire?
@PhotographyEnthusiast
@PhotographyEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. So if you were to do this, you can have an on camera flash and also a remote one.

Is it possible to change flashes intensities from the camera itself?
@PhotographyEnthusiast
@PhotographyEnthusiast 2 жыл бұрын
There is a manual and auto mode. In manual you change the settings yourself. In auto, as you zoom, change appeture etc, it will modify the flash settings within what it is capable of i. E. It does not have high speed sync and so speed only goes so far.

I have a d3400 camera and it does not have the input for the cable, will there be an adapter? If anyone knows, I would appreciate the information ...

I recently bought these and the remote trigger works, but the remote Speedlite trigger does not work when I push the camera shutter button. It syncs up with the remote but it only flashes of I hit the transmitter button. I have a Nikon d3100, is it something to do with the camera settings?
@PhotographyEnthusiast
@PhotographyEnthusiast 4 жыл бұрын
It is really hard to say what the issue is. You can try different modes on the flash and also camera. You may need to experiment. Have you tried tech support?

While I didn't get the kit with the intention of using the remote control I'm still bummed out that I can't use the camera remote with the flash in TTL. I'm assuming I need to purchase a different camera remote to use in conjunction with the flash in TTL? Edit: NVM. I'm an idiot and got it sorted. Just can't stack both on the hot shoe.

@@PhotographyEnthusiast It works pretty well. And that receiver you can "clamp" to the camera's neckstrap with the thumbscrew for the hotshoe so it doesn't just dangle by the cable.

Hi. Some questions... Is the camera mounted on the hot shoe? What mode is the flash set to? What camera mode are you in?
@vme3000
@vme3000 4 жыл бұрын
I realized I was plugging the cord into the trigger when in flash mode. I didn't need to do that and because I was doing that, it was causing a disruption for the sync.

The flash and slave flash will work. I am not sure if the D3300 has the right connection for the remote trigger to work. The remote trigger works on my D5600 but not the Z50.

My thing is video so I´m still amateur with photography too. I was using the cables in both devices for the slave light and it didn´t work. I see you are not using any cable for doing that. Such a terrible user manual, it´s so confusing!! Thanks a lot for sharing the video!! Tomorrow I´ll set the off camera flash as you showed. Hope it´ll work with my canon 6D!! Best regards from Ecuador, Southamerica!!

Hope it worked for you. I have only used the cables for remote trigger on a Nikon D5600. This does not work on my Z50 because the Z50 does not have remote trigger cable port. The remote flash is done by attaching the speed lights to the wireless receivers/transmitters. You are right about the manual !!
