I wont deny the high level of STRESS that all potential Olympians experience , though I think her decision to back out of the team competition because of "mental health issues" then turn around and participate in the individual rounds made a mockery of the struggles that those with mental health issues experience. I respect and admire her talent I wish only, like I feel many others do, that when she performed poorly on the vault she would have just owned it for what it was a "poor performance" not a "mental health" issue.

Gymnasts are humans and I wish people would treat them as such since the sport is absolutely brutal. Don't think there's a single gymnasts who hasn't gotten injured before

I am so proud of this girl everything she does is this breathtaking she's so precise justremarkable. Every time I watch her I'm so honored to be part of her fans I'm reduced to tears because I'm so proud of her and so happy for her she makes me glad to be alive. If only I'd had a daughter like her that is doing so many great things. I have a 34-year-old son that doesn't love me at all he had so many capabilities of being somebody and making me proud it making himself proud but he just I didn't to choose a different road around that's going to destroy him and all of his dreams I worked very hard so that he would have a good life but he chose drugs it's sex it to live his life with no moral compass .

You can't choose his path for him. My daughter's path caused her to get injured over and over. Some of her friends in competition are pushing their kids to do better then they did. My grandson is going to choose for himself. Except I told her no football (OJ and CTE anyone??) and nothing with head contact either.

Ok. Here's my question. Every time I have seen her perform she does amazing, one of a kind jumps, twists, turns and tumbles... however, she also lands with an extra step about 2 out of 3 times - no doubt because of the momentum of her landings - which is more than most of the other performers. In all my years of watching women's (and men's) gymnastics these extra steps almost always receive a deduction of a number of tenths of a point based on the severity of the step. So, with this in mind, is she or is she not being scored with this rule applying to her. And if she is not, are the other performers also getting a free pass? In this routine she had somewhat less than usual, but still hopped after her landings on several occasions. If she is not having points taken away, then it is only fair that the other girls get the same free pass. Please spare me any snide or snarky responses...or the usual fallback of "you're a racist!" b.s. It's a perfectly fair question, and as an enquiring mind, I want to know.

In interviews, I've heard her address this. Not only a couple of hops, but step-outs too. Most gymnasts seem to have them and in the Olympics, they said the deduction is only tenths of a point. Simone said she needs so much speed and power to perform some of the skills she does on her tumbling passes that she can't control the power and momentum but it was something she was working on
