I just have to say: What an amazing woman. She has grown so much, she seems so balanced. Earlier this year I had the impression she doesn't have that much fun anymore. But WOW just blown away. The fact that so many people think they have the right to comment on how someone else treats their own medical conditions is astounding. Not even mentioning that ADHD is a very real and very difficult neurological disorder and stimulant medication to treat it is the most effective and most widely studied clinical treatment for any mental health condition, illness, or disorder. Athletes are subjected to rigorous and often invasive testing and are closely monitored and she shouldn’t be shamed or accused of cheating for taking a medication she need to function that affords her no undue benefit beyond what everyone else who doesn’t have ADHD already has by virtue of having a fully functioning brain. Let people with ADHD treat their conditions in peace.

Life in general isn’t fair. Sure, she may not perform as well in gymnastics without the medication, but other parts of her life and mental health could be negatively affected. I’m glad that she is doing as well as she is.

@discordant dancers do u not know that adderal doesn't affect ppl with adhd the way it affects someone without adhd? Simone doesnt get high like ppl who don't have adhd do. It stabilizes her and treats her condition. If other gymnasts need it, then they should see a doctor. No one is saying only Simone can take adhd meds and no one else can. She had to deal with the kidney stone pain during the competition bc she wasn't allowed to take anything for pain....and not once did she use the kidney stone as an excuse for the way she performed.

@shritchie 6 жыл бұрын
I know she’s been training those things, I’m just wondering which she will put into her routines and compete and which ones will stay in the training gym.
@shritchie
@shritchie 6 жыл бұрын
I disagree that it is only dependent on her competition. You are presupposing that medals right now are the only thing driving her. She has won everything you can win in gymnastics (except for an Olympic bars medal). I think what’s driving her now is leaving her mark on the sport and making sure that gymnasts down the road never surpass her as the best there’s been. To do that, I would think she would want as many of the trickiest skills named after her as she can, which requires her performing them in international competition. So I could see her throwing many of these skills even if her competition never catches up. If it was just about the medals, I would agree with you that she wouldn’t compete these tricky skills unless she needed to to win. But at this point, I don’t think she’s driven by winning-she’s driven by being the absolute best and having as many skills named after her as possible and being the first to do crazy skills in international competition. I think at next year’s worlds and Tokyo Olympics we will see her upping the difficulty even yet again.
@shritchie
@shritchie 6 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what “aswel” means... is it English? I assumed that was a typo. What you said is exactly my point. The competition CANT be what’s motivating her because there is none so it must be continuing to incorporate more difficult skills into her routine that is driving her. If that’s the case, I would expect more difficulty in her routines regardless of what her competition is doing.

I love Simone, she's an amazingly strong woman and one of a kind athlete. But I do get tired of this pointless GOAT among all the sports talk. It's impossible to compare any sport against each other as every sport has different rules, point system, number of events, duration of events... etc... every sport has their GOAT, and with some athletes like Michael Phelps, Simone, Keri Walsh, Usain Bolt, it's fair to call them some of the greatest athletes of all time. But even still, you can't ever objectively look at the GOAT of gymnastics and compare them to the goat of basketball, swimming, what have you, and say that one is a better athlete than the other. If it were hypothetically possible and we're to go by accomplishments alone, I'd say Phelps is the best and even still tops Simone a bit. However, it's impossible to say this because their SPORTS ARE DIFFERENT.
@jasminejohnson4850

I always thought when people call her the "GOAT" they are referring to gymnastics. Which, she is.
@kurisucosmo7954
@kurisucosmo7954 6 жыл бұрын
@@jasminejohnson4850 And that's why I said *"hypothetically."* IF this were a hypothetical situation, one might be able to look at the sheer amount of medals Michael Phelps has and say he is the more decorated athlete. Because objectively speaking, Phelps *does* have more medals. However, at the end (assuming you know how to read), I clearly stated that it was IMPOSSIBLE to apply this hypothetical situation in real life. One cannot compare Simone to Michael Phelps (or any other GOAT for that matter), for all the reasons I stated first. There is simply no way to compare athletes to another outside of their own sport. Stop looking for haters where there are none.
@kurisucosmo7954
@kurisucosmo7954 6 жыл бұрын
@@monicakelly6273 And I agree. But the guy in the interview clearly referenced someone who thought Simone was the "greatest athlete of all time in any sport." (1:41) And Simone responded to the question in that context, not merely of her as the GOAT of gymnastics. As I was saying, it's simply impossible for anyone to make this assumption, no matter how decorated or legendary an athlete is. There are the best athletes of all time, but none of those GOATS are better than another of a different sport.
@jasminejohnson4850
@jasminejohnson4850 6 жыл бұрын
Kristine Silmaro my point was that if you can make a hypothetical statement regarding the GOAT then what’s the big deal with others doing the exact same thing. You made a whole paragraph about that not being ideal but still made a comparison at the end. Makes no sense to me.

Don't retire in 2020 Simone Biles. You will be too young, and her skills, most likely will be at a high level. I cannot seriously support Simone Biles if she leaves the sport of gymnastics in the prime of her athletic career!!!Also, never take a year away from training again. This lengthy time off will not help you physically, or mentally. Even boxers, and football players don't take this much time off, and they are contact sports!!!
