I appreciate your observations on the life and death of Simone Weil. Her manner of death and many of her life choices raise concerns about her emotional and mental stability and do not lend themself to emulation. I do find her writings fascinating and worthy of reflection, especially on the human personality and the needs of the soul.

Enjoyed seeing and hearing you again. So much so I’m going back and listening/reading Parched, redeemed, and Shirt Aflame. Yay, God! Yay, Heather!

Marie! I still have some of your plants in my garden in Tucson! Blessings to you and your beautiful Fillmore homestead. So glad you're going back to my early books.

Extremely fun and interesting to listen to. Weil really lived to the beat of her own drum. She lived as she died, following her principles-just like Christ. Her end reminds me of Schopenhauer’s ideal: the aesthetic monk that starves themselves to death. What a strange mood of being to adapt.

Right, a conundrum. I can't help but admire her in many ways and at the same time...

“Ok they don’t need to know about my existential torment, right?” Heather, are you spying on my internal dialogue 😅?

ha ha, I mean it's so fascinating to ME, doesn't everyone want to hear every last detail? No, these gals just wanted to discuss which mobile home park they were going to move into!

Heather, thank you, again, for opening doors for me - to authors, to great quotes ( I keep a "Quotes" file) and to thoughts/feelings I didn't have names for. Your experience of sitting with people and folding letters -you wouldn't turn down that call to do something worthwhile even though it conflicted with the work you were Called to do as your life's work. That feeling of living in exile when you are doing something you know is important, but also not where you were Called to stay -You've given me the words to name it - essential to understanding it.

Right, Mary...in my teeny way I can help out others but no-one can help me with my writing and other creative work...so it is the best kind of service, this going out of myself...but I can't do it all the time or even very much...though I CAN try to be grateful and gracious and helpful when I do...

Heather, often I see the word.... God's glory. As in do it for the glory of God. I just don't get that concept. Would you mind explaining that? Thank you! Esther
@DesireLinesHK9 ай бұрын
Try googling "What does it mean to do something for the glory of God?" Or look up glory in the dictionary if you don't know its meaning. That's what I do when I don't get a concept! Thanks for watching, Esther.

@@44esta44 I think the idea is that we're trying to show people how great God is, not how great we are...but you can ponder and see how your own heart and imagination interpret the concept...
