the preceding line is crucial here - "Every sin is an attempt to fly from emptiness." Humbly suggesting one follows the other as written for its full impact. And ties in with the earlier descriptions of 'attention.' A powerful piece SJ has provided for our contemplation here. Bowing deeply.

@@maryseokley6061 The word "sin" certainly has become a loaded term - and is commonly misused these days. The original meaning is, "to miss the mark." In this context, with this definition - sin is not an egregious action but simply a mistaken action that can be corrected when one sees the truth.

Compassion, directed towards oneself - is true humility 🙏 Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions. Reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached. Do not allow yourself to be imprisoned by any affection. Keep your solitude.. The day, if it ever comes, when you are given true affection, there will be no opposition between interior solitude and friendship. Quite the reverse - it is even by this infallible sign, that you will recognize it.

This 'Grace' is not made by thought, or memories..which ' being grateful, being elegant and being kind' all is. It is not an urge or whish. It is not a continues sense and cannot stay if you like. Hi! First of all, thanks for sharing all this knowledge in audio format. As a visually impaired person, access to books is restricted and actions like yours really unlock the access to a kind of knowledge that I wouldn't have otherwise. If you allow me a suggestion: Video titles with different characters cannot be read by screen readers. I'm not going to suggest editing every video, but it would be a consideration for the future, allowing even more access for people who are totally blind to read the entire video title. Once again, I thank you for your kind work, I apologize for the broken English, and if you need more information about accessibility, you can contact me, I will be happy to collaborate with what I can. May we all have calm to receive wisdom.
