I've been a professional hunter in New Zealand most of my life and I can honestly say that realising that you cant locate your pack in a situation like that is a profound experience lol When the GPS came out I bought one and learned to always mark my pack location when taking it off before stalking in. I would recommend you get one and eliminate the worry of losing your gear. Just one less thing to worry about when your out on the hill. You got some wonderful images of those hares. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Tony, great advice. It's surprising how far you end up sometimes from where you dropped your gear. Thanks for watching. 👀👊
@tonyfluertynaturephotograp5272 Жыл бұрын
@@simoneardley its surprising how often you feel sure you can pin point the spot where you left your gear only to find it looks completely different from another viewpoint. Leaving your gear on top of a knob or small ridge (we would call a spur) or on a walking track might help buts its still not a guarantee. Everything looks like everything else in a featureless landscape. I have even lost my rifle for over an hour in heavy forest when I left it on the bank to recover deer I had shot in a steep creek. I did not take enough care when putting it down and it was only 30 yards away.

Really impressive footage and images of the hares, Simon. And thank you for taking us on this tour. What an experiment with the traitorous Scottish winter in the hills. I have got a less Disney-like attitude to hares, after I found out that they eat their own shit to digest it a second time - an external version of rumination. But they are kind of cute - not least in white. Actually, until now, I thought Greenland was the only place with snow-hares.

Hi Simon . Great channel i found here ! Wildlife in high performance 🤩 I do it also for roundabout 10 years now here in my country but iam wondering that i dont see some animals in your videos here . Iam not a hunter but i come out of a family with hunters . I like to hunt with camera and lens like you and you also know that real wildlifers have a lot of more skills than others in this king class photography . But my question is : Are wild boars up there in your country or did you have encounters with them ? Here it is nearly daily that they cross in front of the car closely or in the forest that you have encounter under 15 m to them without any danger . Whats up there at your locations with the nice porkys ? - Would be nice to see or hear something about that . Greetings : Harald
@simoneardley Жыл бұрын
Hi Wald, we do have a population of Wild Boar but theyre concentrated down in the Forest of Dean near South Wales. I have photographed them in the past but would like to return to try and photograph the young piglets!!🐗🐗

@@simoneardley Thanks for the answer 😀 . OKay it sounds like to me that you have there also the situation like here that some animals are only in specific areas . Red deers we dont have here , they are more in the south. Biggest wildlife here in my area ( border near GER / NL ) is only roe deers and the wild boars. In the the city of Berlin , wich is far away from me , they are + / - 4000 boars in the city & area moving. 😱 . So if you have less you can find them there and sometimes they are in the stores looking for new gear and make panic 🤣🤣 . Also great stuff you are using . Using here MFT ( Panasonic ) with max. lens 100 - 400 + TC 1.4 and APS-C ( Fujifilm ) 70 - 300 with TC 1.4 . Good results with that stuff here also in that concentrated forest / fiel area from 40.000 ha . Have some small videos in my profile for fun whats going on here in wildlife . Hope to see more good films from you in the wildlife . Best greets from GER : Harald
