Looking forward to a follow-up video on this. I'll be rooting for success for Simoniz. Always love seeing quality competition out there, that is good for the consumer.

That actually looked like a great new product. Especially for ease of use and application with pretty good durability.
@sheepstardetail16 күн бұрын
Yeah, it was easy to apply, just needs the 2 coats.

Please do more of this product line. There's precious little content of Simoniz Canada.

I’ll try to check more out. Maybe a “for Canada only” round up.

I have used some Simoniz products and I have been quite happy with the overall results. I’ll tested some on my channel but have yet to try the cold weather version of the ceramic wax. Thanks for the great video.

Sonax ceramic spray was quite resistant in a previous test vs polymer net shield, it died pretty fast here. Unless you compared the detailers and its my bad

No it was the ceramic. I believe last time I used 1% PIR

I think many years ago I used a Simoniz paste and I am in the U.S. Back then I guess it did the job for what it was.

I’m not sure if that was the same, but I know of that product and it was stout.

I remember scotthd used their glass bottle ceramic coating (diamond plate) and it actually did pretty good. I think they claim two years protection

I’ve never seen that product. Not all Canadian tire stores get the same stock levels unfortunately.

Thanks for the Simoniz review. Have you ever tried their towels or wash mitts as compared Rag company or another 'brand name'? They have some fairly cheap microfibre towels and I was going to use them for ceramic coat leveling and then chuck them out.
@sheepstardetail16 күн бұрын
I have their microfibre wash pad, like it so far. I never really looked closely at their microfibres, and I’m not sure what ones I have that are from TRC. I really don’t go hard on towels like some people unfortunately.

@@sheepstardetail what do you like to use for levelling & detailing?
@sheepstardetail16 күн бұрын
@ short nap for levelling, but the coatings I’ve been using came with towels in kits. Rest of the time it’s Costco cause it’s mostly test panels, or those orange/black border dual pile ones. I have some nice new towels in various styles, just never seemed to want use them ever.

I have a friend who swears by Sonax brilliant shine detailer, but I’ve never used it
@sheepstardetail16 күн бұрын
It’s crazy hydrophobic, reasonably durable, and fairly priced. It is also difficult to apply (draggy).
@jfarm_131116 күн бұрын
@ I don’t have a great need for a quick detailer right now. I have a bottle of griots 3n1 that will last me a lifetime🤣. I’ve coated my car and will do the wife’s in the spring so not a huge use for it currently

So the "Cold Weather Formula" is in reference to the temperature when it is applied or is it the temperature in which the car will be exposed to after application? I have never seen either of those Simoniz products at my local store. I buy roughly $2000 worth of Simoniz products each year to put in prize buckets for a weekly Cars & Coffee that I organise in the summer months in my town, I don't use many of them other than the clay bars and microfibre cloths that I use as throw away rags for dirty jobs. Some Simoniz products serve a useful purpose and they are affordable so for someone with limited funds they are definitely better than using nothing.
@sheepstardetail17 күн бұрын
The detailer is temperature specific 0*C to 15*c. I have used 2 products from them so far that I liked, plastic trim restorer (as a tire shine, perfect Matt me finish and actually lasts) and the platinum leather cleaner has a nice finish. Everything else I’ve used has been sub par, and the platinum line is priced in line with other brands like 3D (especially when you factor in bulk sizing). They are going to do the job, but if you are looking at bang for the buck and can make use of bulk/concentrates, there is better options for regular use.
@Sasquatch_by_Day16 күн бұрын
@@sheepstardetail I have used the Simoniz plastic trim restorer in the past, it does a good job on plastic trim but the effect doesn't last all that long. In its defence, it is better than some more expensive products.

@@Sasquatch_by_DayI found on tires it went to a just black look after a couple weeks but remained hydrophobic. It was an interesting sight, but I liked it.

What do all these ceramic spray sealants protect from exactly? I hear it offers uv protection but I've never seen anyone test that. Is it just less dirt and contaminants bonding to the paint? Because it seems that happens regardless. It just seems that all we look at is water behavior and chemical resistance. How does that apply to the real world and are they really worth it?
@sheepstardetail16 күн бұрын
The only thing chemical resistance tells you is if your high strength washes will hurt your protection, nothing else really. I do real world testing as well as chemical resistance so I know how they perform in normal circumstances. The goal of paint protection is to make the car easier to clean, easier to dry, and resist damage from things like bird poop and other contaminants. How effective each product is varies, hence the testing. This one (black bottles) is geared towards cold weather without dropping performance.
@TheBreakfastLover16 күн бұрын
Dmitry's Garage actually tests for UV protection and no sealant or coating tested has ever actually blocked UV. What they do however, is protect the clear coat from oxidation, preserving the clear coat's ability to block UV.
@sheepstardetail16 күн бұрын
Yeah this is the consensus. But if they don’t block UV, that means the clear coat is still being exposed to it, even with a coating/sealant applied. If you want to block the UV from your paint you will need to install PPF.
