I travelled around 100kms today 21st Jul 2021 with a classic 350 of my friend. This was the first time I was riding any RE. The self start stopped working during the journey and I had to kick start it. I was literally kicking it with all my force and still it won't start. Somehow after 30-40 kicks it started, and I dared not to stop anywhere in the middle, until I reached home. Now after seeing this video I realized what I was doing wrong. I was using the throttle as I was kicking and the timing was not perfect and so it took so long. Actually am not a tenured biker, I don't even have a bike now. So, I really didn't knew that throttle was not required while kicking 😅

Old models had the de-compressor unit which was helpful to take the piston to the compressor stroke,and kick the bike to start।but this new model does not have a half compressor or de compressor।

Brother.. as I've seen, it's the new bull that's difficult to kick start. My 1 month old Standard 350 is difficult whereas on the other hand, my brother's 2014 Thunderbird 350 is very light on the kicker.. I presume the more we drive the easier it gets..

There are 3 things that you can check. First try to increase the rpm or its also called firing. Then try to give some raise before kicking. It is risky. Just try the first one

Your way to kick is wrong. After kicking once don't stop, immediately release the kick lever to return it to the upside. Your way to stop the lever downside after kicking will effect durability of the kick gears.
