Great explanation of my design. Thanks again for the shout out. *** Added by request *** I have been trying to answer as many questions and troubleshoot any issues people have. If you need to see the design from a few different vantage points, you can head over to my channel, but check the list below to see if it covers your issue. As for some quick FAQ's; 1) this is a java only farm, 2) if your bamboo doesn't grow (but doesn't pop off either) you likely need to add more light, 3) if the bamboo breaks when you turn on the machine, make sure you grew it one stage before you turn the machine on (after you plant it, hit it with some bone meal so it looks like a stick in the ground and not a pyramid), 4) It will take a little bit for all the furnaces to turn on as the design prioritized compactness and simplicity over even distribution at start. Just double check all the hoppers are pointed correctly, and give it some time, 5) if that still doesn't work, please try to link a photo or describe what it is that is happening to make it easier for me to troubleshoot for you.

Would just like to warn people that this will not work in Bedrock Edition Bedrock edition being PE, PS4, Xbox One, Windows 10 and the Nintendo Switch. Technically, you are still able to build this build, but since you cannot change the tick speed, it will not be worth it becuase on Bedrock edition the tick speed is 0, so in practice it will take you way way longer to gain levels than it would on java, (Just wanted to clear that up.)

Instead of lots of output chests with hoppers you can instead put the smelted green dye into a dispenser that fires it into lava. The dispenser can be very quickly triggered by two observers back to back, which easily keeps up with the 5 furnaces. (Tested in 1.14.4) Much simpler, much smaller, and never fills up. You can still pause the hoppers below the furnaces with the lever if you actually want some green dye, after all.

Im running on a server, Paper Spigot 1.15.2 . As far as i can tell i built it correctly, but it will not work. (Cactus and bamboo isn't growing when the machine is on.) EDIT: I got it to work, but even though my tick speed is set to 100, the bamboo and cactus is not growing nearly as fast as his is in the video. EDIT: I figured it out, I had to change the paper.yml files.

For people who are only interested in the exp. : Save yourself the endless chest towers that collect the oven product to keep production going. Instead of chests, build a dispenser on the last hopper and connect it to an small observer clock. The dispenser can then shoot all the stuff directly into lava and destroy it immediately.

Works well on Java 1.14.4. Getting about 50 levels per chest from around 20 hours afk. I did notice the 5th furnace wasn't running much, but I got 20 xp.

the fifth furnace is on a slight deficit (which is why you have those chests you can top-off) which cuts down on the lag when you run this 24/7 as only one crop will slightly surplus and need to despawn. you will get 6xp per furnace per minute.

shouldn't add much to the server load, but it can be a bit hard on the client-side frames if you are close enough to see the pistons firing.

@@jamesschnoes708 This needs to be in a loaded chunk to function which means either within the player's render distance or in the spawn chunks (you don't need to be in any specific chunk for it to work). Unfortunately you can't zero-tick blocks on Bedrock which means this will not work, but I did a follow up video called "Fully Automatic XP Farm (No 0-Tick) - Works in Peaceful Mode" that, as the name says, doesn't require zero-ticking. It is a lot... and I mean lot... bigger to compensate, but once built it has the same functionality of being fully automatic xp that doesn't use mobs and you don't have to 'baby-sit' (like a mob grinder where you have to stand in one space if you want it to work).

For any one who's having a problem: If this device doesn't work for you for any reason there's much cheaper and easier but bit slower on xp way to do this , Build a normal auto coocker/smelter (chest on hopper ontop furnce ontop hopper ontop chest ) then run it , i use cublestone as they're easy to get in large quantities, and when u want pull xp just fully stock the bottom chest with anything and last hopper so the item that cocking is stopped inside the furnace then pull it out 1 by 1 in the furnace as they coock , ull get the xp with each pull

I built this back in 1.14, still works great. A bit complex if youve never used redstone before, but you should get it down. A few notes I have: 1. Occasionally once the farm has been running for awhile/you get too far away from it, the redstone clock for the pistons will stop, and the farm will freeze. This is okay, just hit both of the levers again, and youll be all set. 2. If you plan on using this for any extended period of time, youre going to need A LOT of chests to filter all the dye. I have a column of 15 hoppers leading into corresponding double chests, and I still have to clear out the chests after about 7-8 hours of use. 3. The process to get everything going after you initially build it can be wonky. You need to wait for all of the hoppers and furnaces to fill up with cactus, and the same for bamboo. You can lock the hoppers below the furnaces during this process, just so everything saves up. 4. I promise this works. I've been using this for a few months now, and I've gotten thousands of levels from it. It is the best exp farm I've come across, especially considering the relatively compact size of the whole system.

JacobPlays try to remove the Glas on the sides of the plants, the cactus might be pushed into the Glas with the send and break. Also make sure they are both 2 blocks high before you start the machine. At least that worked for me.

I prioritized compactness and simplicity over even distribution at start. Just give it some time and the other furnaces will turn on as the hoppers start to overflow. World download in the description of the original tutorial if you want to see a fully stocked working one.

If you move one of the farms 1 block away from the other one then you can block the bamboo and cactus mixing by placing a layer of glass between the farms above the hoppers. Just means your farm will require one more hopper to build but at least you won't get any more missfires...
