IMPORTANT: You should set your simlation distance to 4 chunks. You can do that in the settings of your world. If you make this farm in a desert biome, you will need to use iron golemns instead of snow golemns. To make iron golemn chambers, dig out a 3x3x3 block space and make the front wall a 2 block high solid block wall. You will not need a minecart chest. A small boost to the farm: Slimes won't spawn where there are torches, so replace them with Jack'o'lanterns in the floor and it'll help spawn rates a bit!

This farm is entirely too big, for the number of pistons you'll ever need. It's almost better to camp a swamp at night and just wait. I mean, unless you're building some insane farm, or several, you won't _NEED_ to do this. This is great for big multiplayer servers, it's not so good for smaller, or single player ones. It's better to go get the balls when you need them, or to just build a single layer near a chunk you've already lit up.

@@madprime6769 no, you can bring this as high or low as you want... It's just not gonna make much difference. Bedrock spawning is very different than java. You _must_ build it LIKE this, so all the spawns are "cave" spawns.... Meaning eight is the max at any given time. Again, slimeballs are nice, but you'll never need this much slime ever... and it's not worth building IMO.

For those wondering if it works in 1.19, just made it in the last 1.19 version available, I dug an L shape of 3 chunks together, adapted it and followed every step and works wonders. I dug all the way til level 5 like JC said, stayed AFK in a diagonal beyond 25 blocks and works really good in hard difficulty. After 5 minutes of AFK got like 3 stacks or so of slime balls. Will AFK for a whole hour and then I'll leave my stats.

Works in 1.18. Snow golems are no longer attracting slimes. (at least for me) I switched them out for iron golems instead and it works flawlessly. Just make your hole big enough to accommodate your iron golems and then use fences instead of a minecart w/chest to keep it contained. Thanks JC! another great farm with some tweaks.

When digging out a slime chunk to build this farm underneath my main base. I found a spider spawner and a geode near the bottom layer. I built your afk spider spawner farm and carved out the cracked blocks of the geode so that they could produce clusters in all directions. I can now sit at the spider afk spot and the slime farm runs and the geode grows clusters all at the same time. Got super lucky. I had to use iron golems since I was in a savanna. I had no idea the snow golems would immediately die until I tried them.. then returning to your comments I saw your tip. Thanks again.. I've built 3 of your farms so far and they all work on bedrock 1.19.

As of now...1.20 it doesnt matter what biome youre in...you need to use iron golems, snow golems no longer attract slimes. This farm still works....it works well enough i found the nearest 4 chunk slime chunk and blew out the entire 4 chunk box and made this farm cover all 4....dont need as many layers due to spawn mechanics and it increased spawn rates exponentially. New afk spot ..in the middle of the 4 chunks floating above the spawning platforms Edit... yes i still blew out the entire chunk to help eliminate any caves above...and exposed any caves nearby and just torched them and then covered them up. This farm is plenty for any single player if made correctly and will produce way more slime then what you need. I play on a smp so larger scale projects for better rates are needed.

First things for everyone ! MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR SEED IN EVEN IF YOUR BEDROCK!! But if you make this farm right you will get 2 stacks in 7 mins. Make sure your 26 blocks away instead of 25. Me and my friend were so mad and thought jc was bs, but after doing what he said it all worked out perfectly. Just built this on June 21, 2023. Minecraft realm bedrock 1.20. I was right next to 3 slime chunks right next to eachother so I, like an insane person, cleared out all 3 and built 3 of these and made my afk spot in the center of them 25 blocks away. Works fantastic still! Just FYI, I still just went to y level 5 even though bedrock is much lower now.

I can confirm that changing the setting to 4 chunks worked, at the moment when I lost all hopes with so many hours of digging and filling caves. I didn’t put the system for auto killing. Just needed to be sure for slime generation before setting the auto killing. After setting 4 chunk I was overwhelmed by the number of slimes generated and manually killing them. Able to get 140-150 slime balls in five minutes + some xp. I am thinking of keeping this farm manual, as I can get some xp also.

Works great in 1.18. At first it was only getting me like 1-2 slime balls for every ten minutes, but I checked the nearby chunks and filled up all the caves in them, now it's getting me about a stack every ten minutes

Love your work JC! I've been building your Slime farms for a few years and always had good results. This one was weird af for me on a realm though. Iron golems were bringing about half a stack per hour, Snow golems about one stack! Both stopped spawning multiple times though, I tried various combinations of render distances and afk distances. I did some lengthy experiments and found a way to get about 9 stacks every 5 mins or so. I did it oldskool with 4 Snow Golems on each floor, built out 43 blocks from the opposite golem on the second floor and had render distance set to 16 chunks. It may be even better with more tinkering.

Just built it in the most recent version of 1.20. Works exactly as described. I have my render distance to maximum and didn't even needed to lower it down to 4

It works really well! Plus, going from 10 to 4 chunk render distance increases all spawns in the Nether, too! I was on 10 chunks for way too long.

Senor_Midget_ yes, I get some slime, but I’ll afk for 30 mins or so and get nothing like not one slime ball, then other times get a stack or two. Ultimately it’s enough for Redstone projects but definitely can’t start building with slums blocks yet.

I have made this a number of times (with various updates on bedrock) with no issues, minus not getting to build snow golems cant seem to build those and make them work since early on but iron golems work amazing!. Today however I am currently working on a new one and the chest would not move far enough with the single powered rails on each end. I placed 2 on each end it almost works, so I placed a powered rail in the middle. It moves perfectly now! Now to finish it up fingers crossed I didn't dig out the wrong chunk and it all works. Lol

@@thijsnwl1225 we (Hubby and I play this map) finally finished up this build last night. First time checking I noticed slims yay, but I forgot to open the holes so the could fall down lmao 🤣 Then switched it back to peaceful (I am a wimp for random mobs popping up lol) fixed it up. Noticed the blocks weren't being picked up lol oops 😬 re add the minecart with a hopper this time. Noticed it was picking the blocks but not dropping them for some reason. So changed up the powered rails a bit, placing 3 on each end removing the one in the middle (you only need one Redstone torch like in the video for the 3 rails, i also made sure to remove the Redstone torch i placed in the middle as it was causing my hopper to not take anything it seems). Worked! and was dropping into the chest now. Then switched to mobs and ran to wait for a bit. We thought maybe we weren't far enough so we went were we stood the first time, but that wasn't the case. I turned off mobs went back to the waiting spot then turned mobs on waited a bit, and checked. There were slimes and it was working properly. Haven't re checked since as grabbed my 37 slimes I got from the short wait and turned mobs back off, to go work on my sheep shearing farm lol 😆 which I forgot we hadn't really started yet lol

Once the sheep are done, we will also likely go blow up some beds 🛌 and finally upgrade some things. (Plus we need a 3rd set as my brother joins in occasionally and doesn't always have time to get his own stuff like that. Then will go off and find the dragon I think 🤔. Still might not be there for a while much to my brothers dismay (he rushes there I like taking my time, he has beaten it multiple times, me not so much, it will be the 1st time for the hubby though.

I ended up digging 3 slime chunks from the serfice to bedrock then came to this video to see what i needed to do... only to relise that i forgot to change the website over to bedrock and i dug up 3 full chunks for no reason.

i think that it doesn't matter how far down you go, if you're still in the chunk, slimes will spawn

So I’ve lit up all the caves, still nothing is spawning. I keep seeing “set render distance to 4 chunks” but my Xbox only lets me turn it down to 6

You need to set simulation distance, not render distance, to 4 chunks. You can do that by leaving the world and going into the world settings.

@@olivertheswimmer976 make sure u have the snow golems and the torches to prevent other mob spawns....and also spawn proof 50 block radius of your afk spot for the best spawn rates...i think other mobs are taking the mob cap so slimes aren't spawning

Legit thought it wouldn't work at first. Works amazingly (even tho i had this massive 1.18 cave right next to it.). Thank you man, keep the good work up. (Also for the people who keep asking, it does work on 1.18 and no, there's no need to go deeper than y level 5. But like some people have already pointed out, slimes are no longer hostile towards snow golems so just use iron golems instead. You also don't have to put minecart chests. Yes, it takes some iron but it is deffinetly worth it.)
