Practice Practice Practice. I used to get frustrated with my wife because she took so much longer getting ready to go somewhere, I turned those waits and arguments into practice time and it has helped a lot

To get the notes that function the same in the key of A, you would use E, C, A, E. the 'train whistle' part sounds good like this: 1st string 12th fret (E Note), 2nd string 13th fret (C Note). sounds great over the A chord. I'll be continuing this Micro Lick series with a lesson on how to move the notes to different keys! Thanks for your comments!

These great licks have the full range of sounds combining notes with distance and ring that I love to hear. Unfortunately, I have never had the experience to play with folks that play this style of Blues. Jim does a great job demonstrating and pointing out the thought in the licks. You're right, sometimes a guitar that's uncomfortable to play deters beginners. I would try to get your hands on something that feels comfortable and fits your hands. There are so many brands that have incredible values for guitars for not a lot of money. Try Alvarez for a start.
