Simple and cheap display solution for 1:64 scale diecast cars

In this video I will show you how I use pizza savers as wall holders for 1:64 diecast cars. This is simple, easy, cheap and fast diy solution for display your models. They fit for Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Majorette, Siku, Burago, Welly, Maisto, Tomica, Tonka, Corgi, Realtoy, Ertl, Greenlight, Johnny Lightning and many others. Pizza savers are also known as pizza stopper, pizza tripod, pizza distancer or pizza stool.

If you want to protect cars from dust you can mount these pizza savers into some cabinet with glass doors.

That bag in the beginning of video contains 1000 pieces and costs 12 USD. Little more than 1 cent each. I saw somewhere on internet that 1 cent for one pizza saver is average price in most of countries, if you order from manufacturer. Manufacturers make large quantities of pizza savers because market demands large numbers. For example if one pizza shop have 100 orders of pizza every day, that's 3000 pizzas monthly. If they put 3 savers on every pizza, they need 9000 pieces monthly. So 8000 pizza savers is not hard to find, and it's not a big number. I believe some pizza shops needs more than 8000 savers every week.

I like when you clipped the top part off and the cars just seemed to float in the air. This would be very cool using the cars to spell out something or to make an image. If done right on a large enough wall you could use different colored cars and make a picture or even a portrait. That would be very cool and as you walk up to it you start seeing the individual cars.

@@WhattoRepair cover a big wall with them start off with something easy to do like the Hot Wheels logo then as you get better more complicated pictures could develop. Kind of like that thing in Las Vegas that uses the different colored lights to make pictures only yours would be colored cars instead of lights.

Not bad bro ... I built my own shelf out of some 3/8 plywood with 3/4 board for the outer edges I made the shelf wide enough to park the cars at an angle so you can see the sides and front of each car I also put a door with glass on the whole thing to keep dust out so far I have 5 of them but haven finished putting the doors on 2 of them. Those 2 are not up on the wall yet. When I get the doors done and mounted on them then I'll put them on a wall somewhere .... ✌😎

That's a good idea, to make shelves where you can put cars at an angle. As you can see at the end of this video, I have shelves made from 4 mm (approximate 1/8 inch) laser cut MDF. They took little space but only side of car is visible. I have some glass display vitrines too, but I can't get enough of them.

You stick a bit of double sided tape and that may alleviate the issue

I just cut off one stand and glued the pizza saver to a painted sheet of plywood and wallah!

I found the triangles online. They are 1.5" x3. Is that the correct size ?

You can see in my video from 0:55 that my triangles have sides 34 mm. That is 1.3". Legs have similar lenght, around 1.2". Legs can be longer but triangles cannot be much bigger, because wheels of cars will hit legs and you can't put car straight that way. Measure distance between wheels on your cars and this is maximum triangle size. Not distance on the same axle, but distance between two axles.

You can think of this as a concept. This pizza tripods can be mounted anywhere. For example, you can mount them inside of closed cabinet with glass door and you have dust protection. Or, as somebody wrote in the comments, you can mount them on a piece of wood so you can move them as you wish, inside of protected cabinet or hang them on the wall, or anywhere else.

I'm not sure do you think of using Blue Tac to mount distancers on the background or using only Blue Tac to mount cars directly to background, without using pizza savers?

Can you order stuff from Ebay or Aliexpress in your country? There are lot of pizza tripods there. Price is around 5-6 USD for 100 pieces. You can find them as "pizza savers". There are lot more results when you search "pizza savers", instead of "pizza tripods".

You know I already got this idea he saw the forklift at the scrap yard picking up cheap plastic modern disposable style cars they use a forklift to carry them around. He didn't have a 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham in his collection I didn't see any little Mercedes cars either no Silver Shadows?

Two legs are much cleaner looking I'd also paint them to match whatever the background color was. These might not be to everyone's liking but in certain locations not being used they might be a pretty good choice.
