As a car fan I'm getting really mad seeing you break the cars 😂
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair 9 күн бұрын
Believe me, those cars that I have broken are so bad that even kids doesn't want to play with them. They are some cheap chinese junk, and I think many of them are dangerous because of sharp edges, paint is peeling off and leaving paint dust etc. I broke few Welly cars but flea markets are full of them.

Thank you for showing this scratch removal technique. Would it work on scratched plastic lens on reading glasses I wonder.
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair 16 күн бұрын
It should work to remove scratches, but it can change shape of lens and have negative effects on eyes. Lenses on glasses are made very precise, even if they are plastic lenses. Specially if your glasses are made just for you, in some optical shop or by doctor prescription. Small change in lenses shape can change focus, distort light or have other negative effects, so I would not recommend polishing glasses. Anyway, scratched lenses on glasses are also harmful to eyes and I think it should be replaced. Polishing should be the last option.

I wonder what grit those Tamiya compounds were. They are essentially liquid abrasives.

Thumbs down for showing the final result at the begining of the video and for the music. 👎
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair Ай бұрын
Well, I 's very discutable what to do, to show result at the beginning or only at the end. In my older videos I was showing result only at the end, but most of people say that I should show result at the beginning so people can decide will they watch rest of the video or not. On the other side, if your final results are good, more people will be interested to watch rest of the video if they see good result at the beginning. Also, most of people watch diorama making videos to see what techniques other people use, what materials and tools other people use etc. So, I got the impression that result doesn't need to be only at the end. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, I will see. And about the music, It's free music from KZbin library, it's safe to use without paying copyright but choice is not so big.

@WhattoRepair

Watch from here 7:30 and you will see how I made the fence. Metal poles are made out of cotton ear swabs, painted with silver marker. Fence was made out of drywall joint mesh tape, also painted in silver, with silver spray paint.

polishing compund grit size pls?
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair 2 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, Tamiya doesn't say anywhere what grit are compounds. Coarse compound is recommended to use after 1500-2000 grit wet sandpaper or other abrasive material, on some websites say that can be used even after 1000 grit abrasive, but I wouldn't recommend that, it will be very hard to remove scratches with compounds after 1000 grit sandpaper. So it is higher than 2000, some people say that coarse Tamiya compound is best to use after 3000 grit abrasive, so it can be possible that coarse compound is more than 3000 grit. After sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper you use those 3 Tamiya compounds in correct order, coarse, fine and finish. I believe that fine compound is more than 5000 and finish is more than 8000 grit, but that's only my guess, I'm not sure. In fact, I can't find any polishing paste with grit labeled on package or in manufacturer's documentation, so I can try polish with other paste and compare with Tamiya.

What's that white powder you use with superglue? Does it activate the glue?
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair 2 ай бұрын
It's baking soda. Soda activates the glue instantly. I made a video about activating super glue, you can watch if you want to see how it works. Here's the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fH-0hJRpfcR4Z7Msi=UvGgcG3Vr58mIc1X

I've been doing quite a bit of research on modeling pine trees. My diorama is in 1:25 scale, and everything I could find online pre-made, LOOKED manufactured and unnatural. While I was a little leery of your methods during your process, I held judgment until the end. And while there are some guys building 4 foot, hyper realistic old growth trees, that would cause most people to go insane trying to recreate, your method, here, looks the best, especially for the time invested. Well done!

@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair 2 ай бұрын
No, they are not 3D printed. Those are fittings for small irrigation hose, for 1/4 inch or about 6 mm hose. I bought them online, I think Aliexpress, but they can be found in local stores, maybe in some gardening equipment stores or aquarium equipment stores.

is the paint remover harmful if you breathe it in?
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair 2 ай бұрын
Any paint remover should always be treated as toxic. Always work in a well-ventilated room or outside. Many of the newer paint removers, like the Bartoline TX10 I use, are water-based and not very harmful because they don't contain methylene chloride. The instructions say that inhaling large concentrations can cause headaches and nausea, but for this type of use, a large amount of remover is not used, and I hardly smell it while working. I use half liter bottle of paint remover for two years, so you can get the idea what amounts of remover I use. Search for methylene chloride free remover, work in a ventilated room and be sure to avoid contact with the skin and there should be no problems.
