When I was a kid we didn't need wiring diagrams. One wire to the starter relay, one to the alternator, one to the positive side of the coil and one from the negative side of the coil to the points. Done. These days I work on computer controlled chainsaws and robotic lawn mowers. Keep learning and absorbing whatever you can because it keeps getting more complicated.

Unfortunately, when I first started learning about cars, I used to throw parts at everything without really trying to diagnose anything. God only knows how much money I wasted lol. Great video, I'm looking forward to the next

I started out working on my dad’s vehicles and equipment and we couldn’t afford to do that so I never even had the opportunity or ever got into that mindset.

@Back in the Shop You're lucky to have a Dad to help teach you. My father didn't know anything about cars, and it was before youtube was around, so it was trial and error for me and whatever I could read

Great advice. Unfortunately todays vehicles are getting more and more complicated. I finally got a scan tool and an automotive multimeter. Still getting used to the computer as an aid. I still prefer a book as I can sit in my easy chair and read it or make notes in it. Wish I had access to Alldata or Mitchell. At least Haynes manuals had wiring diagrams. I should talk to my local library and see if they could get a subscription to something. I always enjoy your fabrication videos. You come up with some pretty good ideas.

It’s only going to get more and more complex as I get in all this electric stuff. Thanks for being a part of the back in the shop community. I don’t know if the library would ever do something like that. But I think you can get a private all data or Mitchell account for like 20 bucks a month which if you do very much at all it would be worth it.
