I remember some of your earlier ties. Great Job and thanks for the new tips.

Awesome fly, Rich! I've been tying something very similar for a few years. I appreciate your method with the eyes, I actually do the same thing but use flat stick-on eyes and build them up with UV resin to minimize weight and maintain even keel. That trick has been critical with a number of patterns for anchoring eyes and making them durable. Such a killer pattern

Awesome inspirational vids! I've still got almost 2 months before the ice is gone here in northern Sweden so it's about time to start filling up those trout snackboxes...!

Rich, extremely well done and clearly explained. A quick tie that catches fish. Perfect!

Love the simplicity of this fly. I don't mind spending an hour building a FGC, but when it comes to filling my box in preparation for a smallmouth season, I want a few fast fishy flies that work. This fits the bill. Thanks for the tutorial.

Picked up some great tips especially when setting the eyes. I've been using way to much gel. Nice clean tie. Much enjoyed thanks!

Hey Rich. Very nice streamer and adaptable to all kinds of target species. Been tying a long time and KZbining for a little while and just found your channel. I’m subscribing because you remind me that I’m not the only one! This fly will be going in the box and the box with me to Belize. I’ll keep watching if you keep posting. Thanks.

That was a great tutorial! Clear instruction and gave a reason why you do it that way (waste is my pet peeve). But why do you wrap the chenille toward you? I thought wrapping away, like the direction of the thread was the way to go, unless you're counter wrapping a rib. Madden did the same thing tying the chromatic peanut. At any rate your tie is the style of dubbed head or CF baitfish streamer I've admired for years. Thanks Rich.

Beautiful fly Rich and good videography !!! Also, thanks for NOT spending endless minutes "stroking" it as you tie :-). I see that a lot in these baitfish\streamer vids and it drives me nuts !! ..LOL.. !

Great fly I can’t wait to tie it. I do a lot of large mouth bass fishing so will try to use bluegill colors. Any you would suggest?
@RichStrolis4 жыл бұрын
Frank Bush Definitely want some olive in there, some turquoise or aqua marine Mixtown little bit of orange and white blend for the belly and that should work. the beauty of the magnum dub is it’s very easy to work with and you can blend colors together it’ll take marker as well so you can really put a lot of time and effort into replicating forage, have fun with it
@jeremydecoudres4 жыл бұрын
Nice work! Curious do you have a method to measure the length of the dubbing so that you get the correct tapering?
@RichStrolis4 жыл бұрын
Jeremy DeCoudres all by eye, if it doesn’t look right after I manipulate the material in hand, then I either add or subtract material from what I’m using and adjust my tie in point with the bundle to make the taper

Rich great video. Can this fly be tied on a jig hook? What hook and size would you recommend?
@RichStrolis4 жыл бұрын
Paul Pinette you certainly could, I’d most likely would use a #2-1/0 for a jig hook

How do these flies swim in the water? Haven't fished these small baitfish much. I think the closest would be the mini bangtail.

Your work is fine, but I am asking myself and asking you a question; all these filaments of more or less plastic material will end up in the water and/or in the bellies of fish. You and I and millions of Internet users would surely like to be able to enjoy many more years of the benefits of this planet. Isn't a reflection on the choice of ecological materials necessary? for reading, thank you.
