Great work on the fire and another beautiful area to work in there. The stream was crystal clear and looked like the sort of place gold prospectors would be panning.

This reminded me that I really need to practice my hand drill technique. I have tried it a few times but never been able to get more than a tiny bit of smoke. Thanks for the inspiration :) - Martin

Thanks for sharing, Sepp! Good that You showed us that sometimes even YOU need a 2nd try at friction fire...hahaha. ;) Thums up also on whittling a simple broad spatula instead of carving a spoon...that's what I do, too. If the food is thick or lumpy a spatula is fine, and for anything more liquid (broth, soup etc.) you just drink it out of the mug.

I went on a hike on a trail today I'm in southern California people say it's amazing here and people want to move here but I go out and I see in the mountains all dry and dead no visual edible plants berries natrual stuff. I'd like to live somewhere where I can forage for fun or practice skills in a healthy ecosystem rich with life
