Ironic. Solved a problem for me too! I think I remember this, from an early 1970's Model Railroader magazine. Timeless great idea! Carmine in Arizona.

Very good and simple solution to point control and power routing... I've used this same process for years. The only thing I do differently, is that I solder all the feed wires through both poles of the switch. They are there, may as well use them and it is good insurance against power loss due to a failure. (Learned this from experience).

I do concur with that!

Nice video, Chris. I do pretty much the same but use PTFE tube. The only bit I'd change on mine (if I could do it again) is to add an "omega loop" at the switch end for fine adjustment, but I suspect my wire is stiffer than yours, so it would cope with pushing and not bending.

The other leads on the toggle could be used to operate red and green switch point indicator lights. I ran across this video again. Still good info.

Hi Chris, please can I ask the size of the wire and the tube? I would like to do 20+ points like this, any idea best pace to buy. Keep up the excellent work.

If you can get it it's 'small bore' copper tube and about 20swg wire sold as Gem. Alternatively,Wizard Models sell a pack of wire and nylon tubing specifically for this.
