I used this to make a draped pirate skirt and it's great! It was fast and simple. :) Thank you for the video!

This is exactly what I was looking for! I wanted to wear a steampunk-style skirt for the Renaissance Festival this year, and just like you said they were super expensive! I’m going thrifting with a friend soon, so I’ll be on the lookout for a skirt that will work for this project.

Thanks for this tutorial, I'm thinking of making a steampunk outfit for Halloween this year. I would add a tulle or similar petticoat under the skirt to give it volume and a bustle. I love your tights and am going to Amazon them now. I hope they still have them.

That is really great, I like to continue the ruching all around the skirt, making the side gathers longer, but then that creates the "gathered shape" all around, and does not bunch it up in the front. Or it needs lotsa ruffles on the back! Great video! LOVE IT! See the whole finished look?

That's a great idea! Glad you liked the video. I don't have the whole look on the vid, but it's on my instagram (a ways back now) @starsetmoonfire if you want to see what I put together for the whole look. :)

Hey! I have a skirt I'm planning to do this with, but can you undo it? Like, can I take out the stitches and wear it without anyone noticing that the skirt was changed?
@StarsetMoonfire4 жыл бұрын
Depending on the fabric, yes. Anytime you push a needle through something a little hole is made. On cotton, knits, gauzy fabric like this skirt, you won't see anything because the fabric is loosely woven and naturally has holes in it and the threads shift enough to go back into place. But on tightly woven fabrics, like satin etc. You will still see the marks.

For this particular type of skirt you could sew small plastic rings (as used in Roman shades) on the inside of the skirt at the ruffle tier seams and use string or ribbon threaded through to pull the skirt up, and then release them to wear the skirt in the normal way.
