You're my hero. DJI should provide an option to mute this damn thing, it's WAY too loud. IMO, there's a deeper psychology behind this whole thing. I believe muting would be an option from a capitalist company, but because DJI exists in a totalitarian society, they're used to rules that "force" them to be "safe," so it doesn't occur to them that some of us would prefer the freedom to "risk" losing the drone due to our own negligence.

Thank you so much for your video. About 5 months ago, when I was in Mexico with my drone, I tried to remove that damn speaker. Unfortunately, I slipped with the screwdriver and caused a short circuit in the battery. Yes, that was quite stupid of me. So, I haven't had a working drone for the last 5 months and had a new controller sent to me by a friend. I’m currently in Guatemala, which means she sent this package here, and it actually arrived yesterday. Today, I was looking for an electrician who seems capable enough to carry out this little operation again, as I still want to stop that annoying beeping sound. So, tomorrow, I’ll go to him with my new controller and my old broken one. We’ll practice on the broken controller first, and then finally remove that damn speaker from my new controller. I just wanted to let you know that I'll be showing him your video so he understands what it’s about. And I also wanted to let you know that I find your voice really pleasant. Thanks again for your video, and all the best with your work. which is your home country? i am german :)

I wander if there is room for a potentiometer next to the led. You can connect to the buzzer instead of the 1k resistor, and have un adjustable volume for the buzzer.

Yes there is room for a low profile pot there. 👍 At the time I did not want to drill one more hole on the controller for that, that´s all.. :)

Wouldn't it be easier just quickly press power button onece and control goes silent mode. Also you can also turn remote volume with your phones volume button while it's connected. I've had my mini 2 for about month and figured that out.

Pressing the power button once only silences it briefly, if at all. It immediately starts beeping again, if under 15% battery, and it does not work at all when below 10% battery. Also, the volume buttons on the phone are completely independent of the RC speaker, and have no effect whatsoever on the internal RC speaker, SADLY!

Excellent presentation of some very cool modifications. You mentioned possibly adding some additional quick shots. I've seen people do this supposed "hack" of the feature "follow me" which is not offered in the mini 2. (It's manipulating the drone into acting as if it has the follow me feature) It would be extremely useful and cool if that feature could somehow be added to the mini 2 (which is the 1st & only drawn I currently own)
@ZollyD3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! :) I am working on some ideas, but no breakthrough yet. A workaround could be to walk the path you want the drone to follow you on, in a specific pace. Have the controller in hand and drive the drone to actually follow you along that path and record it with the autopilot mod Part3. Then go back to the beginning of the path, and make the autopilot recreate the same "follow you flight", and just walk down the path... :) I would do that. The main thing to consider is wind!
@toddvolpe63963 жыл бұрын
@@ZollyD I'm not sure how "follow me" works with the other DJI Quad Copters. Except that you lock into the person on the video screen green box is drawn around you to ask is this what you want to follow and you click yes and it follows you not sure of how. This is my first drone the mini too and I've only flown it twice even though I've owned it for 2 months. But I will be extremely interested to see whatever you come up with because you have great ideas

@ZollyD3 жыл бұрын
The connector at 04:41 is for the gimbal wheel. If you flip the positive with the negative then the adjustment direction will be reverted. So from the 3 wires the middle one and the white has to be flipped. Best done on the small PCB at the wheel after removing the silicone. :) I am happy that you learned stuff. Keep up the curiosity for everything! :)

@@neiljolliff8170 You don't need DJI to reverse the throttle or any stick movement. In DJI Fly, just go to three dot menu, control, Stick Mode, Custom. Ebay. Aliexpress. Banggood. The usual places. There is no part number on the original one so I guess just generic 5V piezo buzzer. There can be other (unknown to us reasons) why it went quiet. So if you want to repair it first take out the buzzer and test it with the LED resistor combo. Mind the polarity! And if the LED works (meaning the buzzer will get signal) order the new buzzer.

That can be from the joystick potentiometers being out of calibration. Advice for the future: When screwing on the sticks for the controller do not tighten them too hard. It can destroy the pots inside. If your remote is beeping because of that, then the joystick module needs to be replaced. (I am just guessing here) Otherwise I would just try to live with it.... On a serious note 🎵, DJI should take stock of what you did and offer two improvements on the controller or future controllers. Firmware update, would allow the operator to actually have a choice of full or half volume on the beeping. Secondly, that red light makes a lot of visual sense in collaboration with what is going on or being used. Btw, showing the inners of this controller was impressive, on so many levels. Two come to mind, as in the paste they use, and the battery 🔋 placement. Good job mad scientist Z with your continued modding, as you have a deserved like and new sub!

Welcome 😉 As for that red light, yup, this has now become a service announcement for the beeping ummm hearing challenged. What if the user is deaf 💆, then he/she has no use for the beeps. Reminds me of some movie quotes, " Don't go to the light! Or Yes, follow the light....👻." (you get the gist, though I am trying not to be biblical here 👼 👹, but a deaf person would not 🚫 hear that) Yet, with your red light 🚨 mod, we would have to change that to, " Don't go to the Zoll, or Yes, go to the Zoll"! (in sign language of course) That is enough for now, too much out of the box thinking 🤔 and writing ⌨️. Oh yeah, thanks for the welcomen to the mad scientist's dungeon, oops meant gang.
