And the most reason cause that leads to Purge Valve not working, is over filling the gas tank. I had a habit of doing so, ended up ruining it. It took me couple days as a DIYer to figure out why the vehicle was acting the way it did. It cost me only parts, otherwise was going to cost me arms and legs taking it to mechanic, as it was throwing more 4 codes altogether & it was frustrating.

Overfilling the tank may ruin the canister as well, cuz it's not supposed to have liquid inside, only gas vapors.

Hello sr My car start to smell fuel today. I was trying to find where is this leak. So I remenbered to check cap assy. When I opened it, I could hear a hissing sound cameing from fuel tank. What inssue cause that?

i did this, but what my purge valve did is just one click and the air passed through then it stops even if its still connected to the battery.. should it be continuously open?

Hi: As my original purge valve is no longer available (Peugeot 307 2002) I am using a valve from another year of same Peugeot model. However the connector is different so I cannot visually determine which of the two contacts is the positive. Is there a way to determine the positive contact without supplying voltage. I assume there is a diode in the circuit so can that determine the current flow, therefore the positive contact, using a meter: Thanks
