Thanks for an amazing tutorial. I sewed right along with you and as a very beginner sewist I was able to make a tray.

Hi Laura - I LOVE THESE TRAYS they are so handy and I have made many, the same way as you. However, I did make one slightly different for my Husband, who LOVES doing Jigsaw Puzzles. Instead of sewing the little corners together, I put snaps on the inside of the corners, so once he had finished keeping his jigsaw pieces in them that he had sorted out, he can un-snap them and lay them flat in the box. LOVE your videos as always, and am looking forward to your next one. Take care, Linda (from England) x

I can see an Americana themed fabric tray that corrals paper napkins for casual al fresco dining. This is a great childrens' sewing project using Christmas fabrics. They like to honor their teachers, librarians, and lunch ladies with gifts.

Such a quick and easy project! While I didn't actually time how long it took, I would estimate it at 20 minutes or thereabouts. I'm fairly certain most of that was spent rummaging in the scrap box to find just the right fabrics. I used 9" squares and a slightly smaller piece of interfacing (should probably have used two as per the instructions, but I'm happy with how it holds up), and stitched it with 1-1/2" sides. Perfect for Mr O to toss his keys in when he gets home from work. Thank you for the awesome tutuorial!

This is great, thank you. Would it be doable to somehow use snaps/hooks, etc., for the corners so it could open up flat and how would you go about that for it to be solid? I think they would make good nesting gifts with the option of both styles. I have lots of fabric leftovers and really need to use the up. Always enjoy your videos, thank you.

Definitely, you could. In fact, that would make it so much more versatile and great for storing when not in use.

sometimes it shrinks, so...you can steam your interfacing first. Do not have the iron touch it, just steam it. and then put it on the fabric
