I've never used fish anything, but it was interesting to watch. 😊

This stuff is amazing. You can see me pour in the inoculant. Like we were discussing the other day, almost any viable probiotic will initiate fermentation. Then, once it's been established, we save some of the finished product to add to a next batch. Same as for the jlf, the airlock will keep smells from escaping and allow it to breathe when necessary. But only when the water hasn't drained out of it, or dried up. Gotta keep an eye on it from time to time..😉

Been doing this since I saw your first video. We ferment our own kombucha so I use a bottle of that for the fermentation. Works great and thank you for demonstrating how this is done

Wow, that's so cool! I love the Kombucha idea. it's perfect.😊 I've often wondered if others had tried other mothers? When they are viable, it just seems to work real well. Great tip, too!

I'd add in a couple handfuls of kelp. Yes from sea but not bringing a big sodium content

@@CreedmoorFury great instructions! It’s too easy for people to get caught up in the “perfect” recipe. Thank you for showing how simple it can be! I arrived at this video from the follow up video and I’m impressed with the final product.

Why not use a clay/ceramic container such as used in Asia to ferment large batches of food like Kimchi?
@CreedmoorFury7 ай бұрын
Simple acces! That's a fantastic idea, so the true answer is.. those types of sealable pots aren't the norm here . If ya have a suggestion for which type, I'd be more than happy to give one a go..😁
@RustyBobbins6 ай бұрын
@@CreedmoorFury I have seen them in Asian groceries that cater to Koreans. The prices weren’t terrible but definitely more than a plastic bucket. Which I find crazy… it’s a clay vessel. The ultimate disposable. But it costs more than a much more highly processed product.
@RustyBobbins6 ай бұрын
@@CreedmoorFury Also a thought just occurred to me because depending on your area you might have access… maybe a wine barrel? Someone in a gardening group I’m in gets them from a local winery since they can’t be reused for wine.

@RustyBobbins Ha- we make our own wine! Ive never thought to ferment fish in a wine barrel. Why not, right? Its plenty large enough..

Where did you get the release valve thing for the top of the bucket?
@CreedmoorFury6 ай бұрын
@kellysullivan2506 amazon has then. Winemakers airlock. Can get them with a bung, or with escutcheons to make a barrel seal. Must be filled halfway with water to use properly. As far as I know, they dont come with instructions.

I see you use milk fat alot. Can i use labs instead
@CreedmoorFury22 күн бұрын
@User-drg1042 sure can! I use milk fat as a food source rich in calcium, proteins, and fats. I also make organic butter and use the buttermilk as a source of lactic acid bacteria. We then multiply them in a liquid solution with other food. After some growth, we scope it for viability and place those cultures into various scenes for them to participate in the soil food web of things.😉 Great stuff! Before I made the lactic acid bacteria video, I had to suggest the use of other forms of probiotics. Now, we have the that example on hand to show how we make a few labs into a few million or more. Gotta love these microbes for their functions.. Major contributions come from both types, or preferences of bacteria- aerobes, as well as anaerobes participate in the wide world of soil fertility..

Cant you rest your scale to zero after you put bucket on it. And then cut out the extra math?
@CreedmoorFury7 ай бұрын
You'd need to tare it while empty but with the pail being weighed. The problem stems from how long it takes to get the correct weight. The scale goes wonky after a few seconds of weighing in the batch. Fortunately, 1 lb of fish equals lbs of molasses. So, adding the little bit is pretty easy. It'll always be 3 lbs 11ounce per pound of fish on my setup. Its pretty straight forward once ya run through it a time or two.
