Thanks so much. Yeah down here whilst its winter the water temp has plummeted to 10 and 11 degrees so targeting your bread and butter species like squid is a really good option. Which Cape are you referring to I'm very curious ??

I'm so glad your enjoying the videos !! In my experience the telescopic and retractable rods aren't great. Not good action or sensitivity. There are some really cheap egi spin rods which would be a much better choice

@@fishingmad ok cause the one I'm being given is my pops old one that he used to store in his esky at work and he caught some decent red fin and yellow belly so I might be wrong about the name but idk

Give it a go and see how it goes otherwise something a simple as Sienna combo or even a rovex squid combo will work just fine

Surprisingly you get huge snapper there in winter and small gummies. However its pretty tough, long hours and many bites at dark. It fishes a lot better in Spring and early Summer

An easier way to dispatch em, is to just squeeze really hard right behind the head, and they will turn white almost instantly.

Yeah agreed 100% my mate always does that and the old karate chop too. On the show we always try and encourage people to follow what been suggested by key fishing bodies so were doing our part. But I agree some other really effective ways too !! Thanks

Hey Alan, I’ve just read this article that says something like this: *Top factors for fish activity (in order of importance):* 1. Within a day- time-frame best times is at Sun- or Moon- Rise or Set +- 45 min. 2. Within a month- time-frame best times is on Full or New moon or up to 5 days after. 3. Local weather changes also increases activity. Note that he says nothing about tides. What do you think about this? Search for: *Solunar "The Real Scoop"*

Honestly I don't follow any of those rules when i comes to squid fishing and I have caught thousands of squid. They will take jigs any time of day and any time of the year. The key is find the shallow weedy zones and fish ideally on clear water days that has a little bit of movement. Today I went out and bagged in an hour, at 10am just after slack tide.

Do you have a video About choosing the rights Location spot. The best time. The best day to go out fishing land-based. Also Where do you go to research. As I don't know much about tides, tides in types out the moon stuff like that. I would like to know more so I can plan a better trip or better day out so it could be accessible. As I don't have all these special gadgets that people used to find a fish in the water and things like that. I really wish that my dad did take me out. Fishing cause I will love it. But it got told it was a boy sport, not girls. Please Alan help?

We cover a lot of this in the FishingMad members area. Honestly I think many overthink targeting squid for me there are a couple of key things. Need shallow waters with high concentration of weed. Ideally clean water conditions. ideally a drifting pace to cover some ground. I tend to really focus on those key things
