how good is this, great to see this place thriving right on the footsteps of suburbia. It used to be a Serbian Snapper paradise back in the 90's with the odd eel and redfin, but these native stockings takes it to another level. Awesome entertainment, thanks for making this.

100% agreed. Im part of the new Vic Fishers Board and have flagged this as an area that needs improvement to the Melton council and the VFA. Cant believe the volume of littering and weird stuff down there at times. My last trip a bloke drove his 4wd into the res near clakes road. I think some security cameras, scattered bins, proper parking, picnic tables, would be a good starting point.

hey alan can you explain why you go for those (i think) overhead reels in this setting?
@fishingmad
@fishingmad 11 ай бұрын
Overheads can be great for trolling, just free spool to let out some line, then click them into gear. Plus they are a tad heavier which is handy when chasing yellas and cod. I use spin rods the majority of time.

I will be mainly flicking soft plastics for pinkies and flathead and I'm thinking of spending about $600 on the combo do you have any recommendations for me or brands to look at? cheers mate I love you're videos they've helped me alot and goten me back into fishing.

Next weeks vid, is all about a mid range combo that would be perfect and below $600. I've been using it to catch snapper and all sorts. The product is officially released in a few days so I cant say anything just yet. Otherwise. I've always rated rod/reel combos like zodias/vanford, and TB black combos. Keep an out out for specials as you see really big discounts on the big brands gear reguarly.

I fished there only once in hope of redfin but didn't catch anything. Obviously wasn't my day. What shocked me is how much rubbish the locals have been dumping by the banks. The rubbish was typical of campers and fishermen. The area worst affected is shown in this drone footage at the end of the video where car trail leads to water. It felt like a 4th world country. Otherwise very nice scenery and cliffs. Good fishing video - thank you.

@fishingmad
@fishingmad 11 ай бұрын
We troll on the kayak and boat at a very slow speed, fast enough that you can see the rod tip wobbling. We usually put the lures 20-30 meters behind us which allows it to get down to a great depth. I hope that helps

Budgets vary so greatly for peddle based kayaks. Some of the entry level pedal kayaks aren't very durable or stable. You cant past a hobie outback or pro angler but they are expensive. Many look to places like marketplace to try and pickup a bargain. Id always encourage people to wait and save a little bit more as a good peddle kayak will last you many years, be safe and give you hands free fishing

Land based fishing can be excellent here ive caught redfin, carp, eps, yellowbelly and the odd cod land based, however there is a massive volume of litter left regularly in the area which can make it an unpleasant spot. For kids follow the VFA stocking program as local lakes like navan park and pykes get stocked with trout and natives
