Ah, hindsight is a wonderful thing. "Latin is a dead language, as dead as can be. It killed off all the Romans, and it sure is killing me!" I began studying Latin prior to my attempt to get in to medical school, having been informed it was a requirement. Not enjoying it in the least I dropped it after a term when I learned Latin was no longer a requirement for entry in to British medical schools... ...that I wasted my life on the all-consuming practice of medicine in dedicated service to people who don't gave a damn, employed by those who don't care is another subject. I should have stuck with the Latin and found something worthwhile to do with my life - or at least something one person might have found worthwhile, me!

The way Latin slowly changed to Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, & Romanian is analogous to biological evolution. If Latin could have resisted dialects, it would be at least be the equal of English, & maybe England would have remained a Latin speaking country because it was francophone for 300 years after 1066 in which case Latin would clearly be the lone world language.

Hi dave, unrelated to this video but i heard something like "everything is energy" and apparently it's backed up by science, specifically quantum mechanics. Unfortunately, the best source i found was titled: "The Illusion of Reality: The Scientific Proof That Everything is Energy and Reality Isn’t Real" And it went on to say "SELF = Intelligence = Information = Energy = Mass = Life = God = Spirit = Consciousness It’s all the same thing. It’s all ONE thing. And everything is energy." And it's safe to say it's not the best source so i just thought i should ask your thoughts on it. Is it bs or does it have something backing it up?

I not quite sure, but I think dave did a video on quantum mysticism. The statement everything is energy comes from special relativity. Its basically just the formula that predicted the mass defect and the exact amount of energy emitted, which we are able to observe when nuclear fusion and fission happen. So yeah, Everything that has mass, can be (at least on paper) converted to energy. God spirit life information and intelligence as well as self cant be measured and dont have mass. Therefore they arent energy. Just from that there is no indicator for reality (your observations) being not „real“. Maybe im missing out on something here :) Edit: Dave should have videos about special relativity in his modern physics playlist. Im not sure tho, I never watched it.

@@Tajjwar yes and no. Energy is by definition a property of a system. (The magnitude of the total force a system can enact upon itself and other systems.) turns out that mass can be converted to forces. Its hard to say what energy is beyond that. All we know is that we can translate between the measurable property mass and the hardly measurable property energy. Again this has no connection whatsoever to brains/conciousness/god/whatever else
