I dont know if your in the hobby still but your tank is absolutely stunning, visually one of the most appealing to me that I've ever seen
@skipthoming62412 жыл бұрын
Sir , thank you, I was thinking of taking the tank back down and just cutting my losses. I’d looked and looked everywhere online and honestly was about to give up , your video was a godsend and following your lead I fixed it. Thank you again.

Most helpful video on this subject on KZbin. I have a Herbie and I am pretty happy with it so far. Adding that bit of pvc and converting it to a Durso seems to be helpful in some situations.

Thanks for this great video! A loose cap on top didn't quite do it for me (the slurping would alternate between going quiet and starting again) but after inserting a wide rubber band between the T-fitting and the cap (creating an almost air tight seal) this worked flawlessly! No slurping at all anymore, it's all quiet. Thanks again!

You know you’re keeping sun coral well when they’re spawning in your tank!

I was really suprised! Maybe its time to add more NPS to the dark parts of the tank and see how it goes!
@rbaker1819 Жыл бұрын
Why does the endcap need to be loose fitting? Seems like if it was tight fitting it would be silent as long as you have the air hose properly adjusted.

So I have a display tank with some holes drilled into the back wall and a weir in front. I do not have an overflow box in the back. How can I design my drain setup so that it's more silent or do I have to have an overflow box in the back? Thank you for your videos.
@mistadobalina10932 жыл бұрын
You can make the 2 fittings inside the tank instead - run one just above the water (emergency) and one below (with a tap on the outlet so you can close it until it's full of water only, thus silent)
@jonathanchang14 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, is the size of your main drain 32mm? What is the size of the Tee fittings you have? Trying to find the right size from Bunnings.

Will the water level rise when you put the T and the cap? Water level inside the overflow box
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
A little bit yes. Depends on the exact plumbing you use. But it will rise in the overflow by approx 5cm if using a similar setup to mine.

Great video thx! 1 question. I have a breeding rack with 6x 130l aquaria with only 1 standpipe overflow. The tanks are barebottom is it still a extra risk to put a durso on each? Cause I don't want a overflow room😂
@ReefNerd3 жыл бұрын
Im probably not qualified to offer you advice on that scenario... though with that much water, I would personally want an emergency overflow drain

Hi Marcus, this vid was/is a HUGE help. Is there a calculation to what litres per hour my return pump should be? I have a 216 litre tank getting set up and need some serious help! Lol Or maybe you have a FB page or something I can email pics etc for ur advice? Thanks.

How many gal is your tank? Return pump flow rate?
@ReefNerd4 жыл бұрын
Its about 80 Gallons, I am running a Maxspect Turbine duo td-9k, in single outlet mode at 100% as the return. No idea what the flow rate on that is but I am sure you could find the specs from Maxspects website.

I never realized the gurgling siphon from the aquarium sounds like a bong rip. The gurgling from my aquarium sounds like somebody just opened a storm drain that was clogged and all the water is trying to flush in. It's so gosh darn loud... 😱

Have you got a hole drilled in it with an air hose?
@Furbius3 жыл бұрын
Simpler Trick, dennoch anfällig, da sich der luftschlauch mit Salz zu setzt und dann pfeift es wie eine Turbine:)

A gate valve on the main drain would have fixed this. Can’t believe neptunian cube sell their tanks with such a crappy overflow.
@ReefNerd4 жыл бұрын
Only the original models like mine don’t have an effective gate valve. All the current and new models have upgraded overflows and include gate ball valves.

@ReefNerd4 жыл бұрын
yea quite a few were hiding down the weir... very sharp and easy to cut yourself on them! They have been mostly eradicated from my display by combination of manual removal and i think my 6 line wrasse or coral banded shrimp eats them, but the weir is a safe haven for them

I just bought a used set up. 165 with all the live rock 200 lb worth. Tank was covered in anemones and me being new didn’t notice rock was infested with them snails. I went all dry rock. My mistake. Thanks for the video trying to quite my returns.
