Thank you so much. Mirror trick has saved my new sailfin from being bullied to death by an older sailfin I've had a while. He shredded its fins to tatters in about 20 minutes but now won't leave the mirror alone. This video saved my new fish! Thank you.

fantastic to hear! experiment with leaving the mirror there for about a week, then try removing for short period to see if its still needed or not...

I had aggression with my purple tang against my yellow tang so I introduced a 3d printed yellow tang into my aquarium and my purple tang spent about 5 days attacking the 3d printed one, when he gave up attacking the dummy one I removed it and the aggression hasn't reappeared and they get on fine now. Love your videos 👍🇬🇧

Great idea! Where did you get the file from?

Great idea. Did you fix it to rock or hang it in the water column or fix it to the glass. Did you have to move it around? Some more information on your technique would be great. Did you remove your real yellow tang when the fake was in the tank?
@stuartsurrey73913 жыл бұрын
@@markherrmann5592 what worked for me was attaching the fake one to a rock using thin fishing line, the fake one moved around in the flow, I didn't remove my real yellow tang what it achieved was that while my purple tang attacked the fake one it gave my yellow tang time to settle in and establish him self and get comfortable in his surroundings, once the purple tang started to ignore the fake one I sniped the fishing line and let it float about my aquarium for 24 hours before I removed it, from then on my purple and yellow tang get on fine now, I do feed plenty of meaty foods along with seaweed sheets, I do find that if I feed plenty of food everyone stays happy. I will be doing the same again as I have a white tail tang going through quarantine at the moment. Hope this helps you out.

Hi Marcus, Your tank is coming along. Thanks for continuing the journey. Adding to or adjusting your seascape is also a good option, particularly in the early stages when there is still plenty of growing room. Even moving or creating an island might create enough new habitat. Also, it is the tangs of the same genus that are more aggressive to each other. Anything lower than genus ie species and sub species will also be an issue unless as you suggest, you have a school of them.

Thanks so much for your tips! Putting up a mirror worked for us. So glad that our yellow tang doesn’t bully the powder brown tang anymore :)

Not a Tang response, but I used to use the mirror method for my Betta tanks. Something people don't get is that those fish get bored, and suffer lethargy very easily. A common cause of them not lasting long in a lonely tank.... A mirror on the side of the tank every so often, for half an hour or so, is a great way to get some exercise, flare up and get back to their aggressive roots, safely 👍

Removing aggressive tang for 2 weeks rarely if ever works. To Re- establish territorial rights and dominance, it would need to be removed for 2-3 months. Then it works better if the removed and reintroduced tang is either lot smaller or larger than tangs already in the tank. Long stays in very large Acclimation boxes can also assist in this tricky exercise.

Can you get a clown tang to chill with this method? I’ve got a Rimini, hippo and clown tang in a 40 gallon quarantine tank. From a second in, he attacked everyone. They’re all 2” in length

Have a powder blue for 6 months in 180. tried to add a powder brown two months ago. Did not go well. Separated the blue by egg crate for the second time, mirror been up for weeks. Going to try one more time in a week during water change to release the blue. Last time brown stayed in front right corner, not trying to hide or run after the blue was set free 24 hours later. Should I keep them together until it’s gets too much? Thanks Dave

This relates to option #5 it isn’t tangs but I have a yellowtail damsel and he honestly was a idiot he bullied and picked on everyone smaller than him that he could get his hands on but anyone his size he was a 🐱 and was terrified but I used a breeder box so he still looks like he’s in the tank but he wasn’t and this was for about a week or two and it forced him to realize that he’s in the wrong because know ones bothering him and they won’t and he could still see in and out and he became really calm and this really helped him from agression and he gets a long perfect now he just needed to realize know ones here to hurt him I would suggest this as a option if you’re dealing with a smaller size of fish

Zebrasoma though, not mosa, right?! Was planning for a Flavescens and a Xanthurum since I think most other Tangs need even larger tanks. Might need a mirror.😀
