I was 11. Love them so much. It is fantastic to hear my mother tell me " Stop with your Simple Minds". Sorry mum, I began the journey in September 1980. My 3 children don't call me Papa or Dad or Paps. They call me SIMPlLE PAPS 😂

Takes me back to Summer '87 when I was just 19 and ready to hit the big Two-Ohhh. I played this track all the time in the car.......such a timeless classic.

Simply the greatest (officially released*) live album of all time...nothing comes close. *If Tubular Bells II and Tubular Bells III live premiere concerts had been released on CD etc they would be no1 & 2.

£2 in a charity shop the other day. That's this week's find. I mind this out when I was younger but never got it but I'm getting back into the band's back catalogue again and it takes you back to the sort of mid point of their career. Mullets and all...

My favorite SM song and favorite version of it. I prefer the way the chorus is sung in this compared to earlier versions. The violin or fiddle is a particularly wonderful touch which, as I’ve read, was added in post production. “Lisa Germano (at the time, a John Mellencamp band member who would perform on Simple Minds’ next studio single, Belfast Child), contributed studio-overdubbed violin on “Someone Somewhere in Summertime” and former Simple Minds member Derek Forbes contributed (uncredited) bass guitar overdubs.”

Stay, I'm burning slow With me in the rain, walking in the soft rain Calling out my name See me burning slow Brilliant days, wake up on brilliant days Shadows of brilliant ways will change all the time Memories, burning gold memories Gold of day memories change me in these times Somewhere there is some place, that one million eyes can't see And somewhere there is someone, who can see what I can see Someone, Somewhere In Summertime Someone, Somewhere In Summertime Someone, Somewhere In Summertime Moments burn, slow burning golden nights Once more see city lights, holding candles to the flame Brilliant days, wake up on brilliant days Shadows of brilliant ways will change me all the time Somewhere there is some place, that one million eyes can't see And somewhere there is someone, who can see what I can see Someone, Somewhere In Summertime Someone, Somewhere In Summertime Someone, Somewhere In Summertime Someone, Somewhere In Summertime Someone, Somewhere In Summertime

@@paulolsen6870 Not true. They exist. Having said that.... The strange thing here is that, IMHO, the violin was a totally unneccessary addition to a great performance of the song.

Derek Baker violins gave a peaceful and romantic tone to the tune...btw how is this violin called? or was that a synth sample of?

“Lisa Germano (at the time, a John Mellencamp band member who would perform on Simple Minds’ next studio single, Belfast Child), contributed studio-overdubbed violin on “Someone Somewhere in Summertime” and former Simple Minds member Derek Forbes contributed (uncredited) bass guitar overdubs.” By the way, I love the addition of the violin. It’s my favorite Simple Minds recording, whether live, studio, or a combination.
