Not bad if you have a confirmation indicator to filter out the chop. But even those losses wouldn't be big though.

For sure…and that's exactly the point of having an algorithm. Higher degree of confidence for better trades.

@@KevinT7274We tested the 20 period as a benchmark value and if you look at the blog you can see results for the four different markets we test. The link to the blog is in the description or you can just do a search on the site.

@stonehillforex7998 I see you changed the MA periods in the tweaks, and it wasn't just a little in a few cases. With every indicator profile series video I've seen, only 1 time I saw where the default settings had the best results in testing.

@@KevinT7274 There were a small handful of times when the default value was the best setting. It does happen on occasion, but for the most part, indicators need to be tweaked due to changing market conditions. As the story goes, indicator developers set the default value at what they believe is most appropriate. Perhaps it was when they published it…but, only the Shadow knows!

EMA > SMA especially for indices but have to respect the SMA coz alot of the greats like Ed Seykota made alot off moving averages

Of course - most other moving averages will do better than the SMA (I was a big fan of the EMA for a long time) - but yes, people have done quite well, especially in trending markets.
