I don't know what you're playing, but it ain't Mustang Sally. The rhythm is totally wrong, and no back-beat. Sounds more like Change In My Pocket. Your students need to learn the songs correctly, so they don't get into the habit of being sloppy and lazy.

Thank you so much for this lesson. Exactly what fits to my level of playing at the moment and easy to follow. I also used a capo for the first time and the 12 bar blues scheme is easy to follow as well. The only thing I really struggle with, how can I manage to strum and play at the same time. This still makes a knot in my brain and I either forget to strum or to sing (maybe better for the audience). 😀

Hi Lauren, thank you for the lesson. I just found your channel this evening and this is the first video I've seen. I have a question about how you are playing the chords. It appears that your first finger is pressing directly on the fret and not in between like your other fingers. Is this how you are playing the chords, or is it the camera angle?

The first finger only plays the top string if that's what you are referring to.

Ah yes, also tricky. Two options: 1. Stretch with the third finger if your hands are big enough 2. Skip the pinky. Instead, the 2 & 4 beat, use the third finger. It's not exactly the same but gives it more of that feel.
