You’re videos are awesome!!!!!! I loved your Rickson Gracie mount escape. Also your hippaplata. I have used both those videos more than once!!!! Now I will be using this footlock

Awesome videos. Could you please make a video on ways to avoid getting destroyed by heavier, stronger guys when sparring/rolling? Thank you.

This is really innovative and thanks for the video. What I am concerned about is the following: The way to defend most ankle locks are to inhibit the opponents ability to anchor (push off your hip say) onto you and bridge. So if I control his feet and he can't anchor off me to push he cannot create breaking pressure. With this footlock it seems easy to control your (topside) foot because it is right in front of the opponent. Additionally, if he is able to move your foot off his hip and to his sideside, he will relieve the breaking pressure and this opens up the possibility for him to counter with an inside heelhook on your topside leg. At this point it would become a race and attributes like flexibility and size might determine who wins. I suppose my questions are: 1) Have you encountered this counter and how have you dealt with it? 2) Is there something you are doing that prevents him from being able to slide the foot off? Thanks again

Invisible Jiu Jitsu thanks for your well thought out reply. I will give it a shot in training. I am currently recovering from an MCL tear so has been great to watch your videos :)

I've been reaching a variation of this position from a Cross Ankle Pick into a Cross Ashi Garami where the leg being attacked is on your opposite hip. Do any of the breaking mechanics or positional transitions change? The 50/50 guard and the Leg Drag Pass look available if they push my foot off their hip or I restand?

Breaking mechanism is the same and you're right, it flows really nice into leg drags, 50/50 and crab rides!
@andrewferris19034 жыл бұрын
@@InvisibleJiuJitsu I hadn't even considered The Crab Ride, do you use the hook to lift him and invert yourself to expose his back? Now that would be a kick ass video.

@@andrewferris1903 yeh exactly, and try to find a rear body lock. I'll have to remember it when we're back training

One counter my opponent has been using is to rotate towards the locked leg and I usually roll with them but after some rolls their leg come loose or we get out of the mat and reset. Any tips to prevent that?

aha! I guess I rolled too far, thanks!

Hi Professor, since this leg lock position is unlike the usual ashi garami setup, would it be consider knee reaping by referees in competition? Quite confused about how the refs actually dictate what is reaping vs what isnt't

Coach, isn't it a little strange that you show us the New School Straight Footlock but a defense to Old School Straight Footlock?

Is that the legal IBJJF foot lock? If so why are people doing it from ashi? I really like the foot position.
