Lovely, lovely!! And very helpful tips. It’s great to hear your love of Texas, too!! The fields of wildflowers in the spring in Texas are breathtaking, and I always send a smile up to Ladybird!!

I love this so much...especially the iron discussion. If I have to iron it or hand wash it, I don't need it.

That is just beautiful! I have been to the Texas Hill country twice now, both times in April in a good wildflower year. I agree it is beautiful! I want to go back and take pictures, my last trip was to Fredricksburg to view the eclipse. We would have stayed longer than 2 days but the hotels were too expensive to do so this time. The wildflowers all along our route from Phoenix, by Tuscon, then once we got into the hill country were absolutley fabulous. I thank you for your tips on painting this stamp, now going to have to buy it if it is still available. I have a number of stamps from HoneyBee stamps, its a great company!

Alternatively, when you’re cold you get goosebumps & that’s how you can remember that cold press is “bumpy”😂 Someone told me that a long time ago & I’ve never forgotten it! Love your watercolor & your narrative while you’re painting!!

Lovely and may be able to use that technique successfully. Seems that might work on lilacs, also. Thanks for the great info.

I was so glad to hear you say you rarely use hot press paper. I've tried to use it so many times and have never been happy with the results. The thing I most enjoy about watercolors is the unpredictability. When I've tried to use hot press paper the colors don't run, don't blend like I want. Everything looks too precise, not watercolory at all. I know it works well for botanical renderings, but that isn't the look I'm going for. I want movement, not precision. Obviously, I have a fair amount of hot press that I'll never use ☹ except for inky backgrounds. Thanks again.

Love the look you got with the flowers, Lydia. When you said for the last stage, where you used as much pigment & little water as possible, I assume you didn't pick up too highly concentrated pigment. I've done that, where I don't have quite enough water in the mix & the paint dries with a slightly shiny & sometimes a little sticky or tacky finish. So I'm guessing you have at least a little more water than that, and the really key "component" is the wet-on-dry technique. Is that correct? Just curious. Thank you for sharing this. I was just thinking about Maddie & Splotchy, and hope they are doing well. (Yes, I hope you're doing well, too, but I guess you'd agree life is really all about the cats. LOL) Anyway, take care, & have an awesome day! :)

Yes that's exactly right and I know what you mean about that concentrated/sticky effect - that's why I like working on a glass mat or with a ceramic palette so I can play with the ratio! Maddie & Splotchy are great!!
