I am a pilot, it's been a while since I've flown but looking to get back into in. I flew 30-40 times, so still a beginner but tech has advanced since then and I would love to hit it again. These videos are fun to watch.

Terrific advice. Had never thought to pull my C's before bunching my glider. Love your videos.

Excellent, Greg! Thanks for posting! I was always told -- flip the risers over clockwise, turn clockwise. It isn't intuitive but it works! (you can choose to go counterclockwise for both as well, works the same).

quick tips, full of information. This urge to fight the glider, instead of doing small step forward and depowering it, it is very easy, but counterintuitive (from beginers perspective), so it took me more than few difficult starts and I am still not sure I mastered it :-)

I am going to look for the ground work videos for powering my launch . I have a lot of work to do and your help is where its at. The first time I leave the ground and return smoothly I will be a happy CAT . Even if it is for 120ft. Then I think I will be ready for the tow line .

Any tips for keeping a high aspect glider pinned to the ground? The centre of mine flaps up in a horseshoe when trying to keep it down with rear risers

Learned that "extra length of C lines" trick from one of your older videos and it makes a world of difference in how nicely or not the wing bunches up. I still keep forgetting it in practice when I first bunch up to leave a busy landing site and after a few meters of dragging what feels like a mini hot air balloon behind me, I remember. 😁

Been flying 20+ years, the world over. Still amazed how many pilots, including high-level comp pilots, that pull their wing up in stronger conditions with absolutely no pre-planned idea on how to kill it if things go pear-shaped. Brakes are never enough, you need to have a kill method in place, appropriate for your wing design, BEFORE you inflate. You shouldn't be allowed a P2 without demonstrating this skill in actual windy conditions.
@AdiAsaf
@AdiAsaf Жыл бұрын
Even the initial advice re the brakes position is priceless. There is no need to have this mass of A risers & C risers bundled in each hand...Simply pull them up your wrist..you'll have plenty of time reaching for them once the glider is up..that's the easy part

The problem is the right timing and the right amount of power when you pull the A lines. It is a very fine game between pulling the A lines, moving towards the wing as it lifts of the ground and the right amount of pull on the C lines. After years of flying still trying to get better at it.

Hey Greg this is Eric I was wondering how should the wind fall whenever you're done ground handling if you're not touching anything when it's up in the air cuz I got a brand new wing and it's wanting to collapse in the middle shouldn't fall on the shouldn't fall like on the left wing tip and I'm talking about whenever it's in are and you don't touch nothing and it's floating and then it stops it shouldn't collapse in the middle should it if you can get back with me and let me know I would really appreciate it

Really cool video! I need to find a nice ridge/ slope for GH and some low flying practice. Living near good flying sites like Annecy is great but I have never soared a safe grassy ridge before but I have thermalled 1.5km above takeoff... Wrong order! :D
@HermannLoose

I would challenge the idea that soaring is safer than thermal flying.
