My grandpa built their home around the pump, It was an old style pitcher pump, he built the house that way so the pump actually pumped directly into the kitchen sink so Grandma didn't have to go outside to get it. That's what my Uncle did too! Built the home and farm around the well and the water went directly to the kitchen sink. I wish he was alive so I could ask him more. Like... why did he build a pump house structure around his hand pump well. Why did he install a windmill for it? ) I know besides servicing the house it also pumped water to huge stationary water tank 6 feet away from it into to fenced area for the horses. If anyone has any answers to why farmers built a well house and had a windmill, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I had a Simple Pump installed 2 years ago on my homestead. I will always have water for myself, 3 horses and two dogs no matter what. Depending on a gas/electric generator is foolhardy because you’ll eventually run out of fuel. Depending on solar is risky in case of an EMP attack. Simple Pump and a wood stove are a must for every homestead.

Thank you! We had our well rehabilitated etc. several years ago. I asked the owner of the company about putting in some kind of non-electrical pump so we could have water if the power was out. He dismissed my concerns. Said he didn't want a second set of pipes going down the well to narrow the well case/pipe and cause the pipe or pump to bang against the side when the electric pump was running. Our well is only 130ish feet deep. I accepted it at the time because I didn't have time to argue with him. But you've inspired me to bring it up with him again to ask him to install this system. We don't have your know-how to do it ourselves.

We installed a hand pump on our well a couple of years ago and have never regretted it; a backup to the backup. I was also told to pump water through it a couple of times a week. Just so I remember, I pump it on laundry day. We do have a whole house generator (which runs on gasoline or propane). I refuse to turn on the generator just to flush a toilet or light my house (I have oil lamps). If I run the generator 15 minutes out of every hour, it keeps my refrigerator cold and my freezer food solid.

I started with a hand pump on my little homestead, which is completely off grid. I started getting too buff for a 68 year old woman hand pumping all the water I needed for the animals, so got a peripheral solar pump to use Yah’s sun to draw the water for me. HalleluYah, it has been such a blessing. I still have a pitcher pump on standby for when the sun turns black as sackcloth and solar doesn’t work. I have a dual fuel generator for emergency battery charging during extended overcast periods, but with the price of gas and propane going up, I don’t use it unless I really need to. Love your videos.

It was considerably less than the simple pump, and does have the Stainless steel upper part, but I'm only pumping from 30 feet of pipe (my water level is only 8-10 feet below the top of the well casing). For a deep well, the simple pump looks like a more reasonable option. Excellent show! Thank you for the all the details.
