- 6 - 6’ cedar picket fence boards
- 6 - 2x4 pine boards, 12 inches long* (I used 2x2 furring strips

Excellent job for a solo project. You definitely could have used some extra hands in assembling your beds. I took the easy route and purchased my raised beds pre-cut, so I only had to assemble them. My next ones I probably will build like you did. You should try using wood glue which would make your final assembly stronger next time, but overall an extra job.

Thank you! I appreciate the reminder about wood glue! I usually start off using it and then somewhere along the way I forget about it 😂 but your totally right; both wood glue and an extra set of hands would have been helpful!

Great question! Prices have increase slightly since I built those beds, but between the cedar pickets, 2x4s, and screws it cost ~$30 per raised bed. That doesn't take into account tools (mitre saw, drill, etc.)

Zucchini need to be in the ground. They get huge and produce a lot

In-ground is definitely ideal, but for those without the space to have them spread as much, a large pot, grow bag, or vertical planter can be a good option.

I have Rabbits in my yard…would I have to make these taller to keep them out? Or is this height sufficient?

Great question! Building it taller to keep animals out is a good option! (Also helps reduce any back strain from bending to tend the beds). 😊 If adding a fence around your garden area isn’t feasible, then another option would be to add a removable lid. I’ll explain more in an upcoming video.
