Hi, UPDATE-Great video, very well down. I purchased a 2 month old Bengal kitten (similar to cat pictured). I feed my kitten up to 3 cans - 3 oz each a day, HE LOVES IT! I also warm it up (temperature as if he caught a fresh mouse), I keep his water fountain separate from his food dish (as if he was in the wild); side-note My bengal weighed .89 lbs when I got him, after 2 weeks he was 2.2 lbs. This raw food diet works for me, his appetite is great, coat is beatiful, energy is crazy (I have a water spray bottle for too crazy, lol) and I feel like I'm giving him the best life he can have, Good Luck🙏 - treat your babies like they are your children❣

@Mbartn4 жыл бұрын
@@Love_Meat_Tender Hi Jennifer, he has a healthy appetite and I would give him 2 to 3ozs per feeding 3 times a day. After feedings I watched his habits and see if he would get sick from the raw food. Sometimes he would sprint around the house or lick/clean his whiskers or start roaring like a baby lion, lol; he did not get sick. I was amazed because he wouldn't eat anything else except a high protein kitten kibble for in between meals. He is now 1yr 3mos, around 12lbs.

@@dottca Hi Ivan, I followed this recipe, exact, since my guy was 2 1/2mos old. I was surprised that he took to it, so easy, like drinking water. I use skinless chicken breast as shown in video. Hi Michael! I recently adopted two kittens (siamese/snowshoe mix and domestic shorthair) and they're about two months old so your comment was extremely helpful and the inspiration I needed to start the transformation for them into the raw food diet life! I do have a question- you only fed them raw food three times a day correct? When you mentioned dry kibble in between meals, was that before or after switching to raw food? Should I keep dry food for them to snack on between meals or simply the raw mixture? If yes, which brand do you recommend?

This video was suggested by my vet because my cat doesn't like fish, egg, rice, kible, bone and any other seafood. He only eat chicken but chicken breast, albeit healthy does not provide enough nutrition for my cat so he became skinny. So, my vet suggest me to follow this recipe because if combine heart, liver, chicken thigh, and supplement provided my cat's meal will have enough nurition too ensure my cat's health.

Good vid. Comment: Even though you're generously supplementing, everything ive read suggests that there are still very strong reasons to include some appropriate raw bone content, not just soft flesh and organs ... the extra chewing is supposedly great for their oral health by exercising their chewing muscles, stimulating the gums, and naturally scraping away tartar. Ive also heard that bone (and fur for whole prey model) also functions a bit like fiber does for us, and helps their GI move better. Foods to consider: whole small fish like sardines and mackerel, chicken necks and wings (use a rubber mallet to break up the bones for the first few weeks until their chewing prowess improves enough to leave them whole). Just something to consider ... i'm not an authority, and it's been a few decades since I was owned by a cat. Cheers.

You can’t use bones with this supplement mix (though they do sell one for bone in meat). The eggshell calcium has a very similar mineral composition to bone aside from phosphorus. Cats don’t really gnaw on bones as much as dogs do, so while you can include them chunked meats/heart and gizzards can give a good workout.
@RovingPunster4 жыл бұрын
@@juliac3933 Egg shells are reputedly as decent sub for bone. Dunno if it satisfies the phosphorous needs though. It merits some reading. BTW, to me, "gnawing" is not the same as "eating". Gnawing seems more in line with the idea of "recreational bones" intended to satisfy a dog's need to chew but which are too big to actually be edible (aside from what they can eke off the exterior). I was more referring to the sort of bones cats CAN eat ... like the bones in mice, rats, squirrels, small fish, etc.

Do you know roughly how much you spend monthly? Also how much do you feed?
@BengalCats5 жыл бұрын
jessicacampbell95jc It depends on a lot of things: age, general health, activity level, genetics, etc... Usually for adult cats, you should feed 2 to 4% of the cat's ideal body weight per day. For me, in Canada, the cost for the quantity of food shown in this video is around CAD $30 and I make a new batch every two weeks. So, I spend around CAD $60 per month. It depends if chicken thighs are on sale or not and if I can find family value packs. Chicken hearts and liver are pretty cheap.

I don't use this recipe, but to give you an idea of cost, I have two classic American shorthair cats that will be two years old in August. I was feeding them 2 oz/meal twice a day (total for both, 8 oz) and it cost me $137 for a 40 day supply. (Darwin's Natural Pet Products) I now make their food and it costs (roughly) $80 for the same 40 days and I've increased their meals to 3 oz twice daily. Join the Facebook group Cats COMPLETELY RAW AND PROUD (Cat CRAP) for more information. Really knowledgeable folks there.

@GiovanaSimmer4 жыл бұрын
For sure. Just keep the same ratios and replace chicken with beef, rabbit, turkey, etc.
