Where I live in California you have to pay 10 cents for bags if you don't bring you're own. Stores can't just give them to you anymore. It's a cool way to push us to make better choices.

I would love if you continued with some videos like this. I recently got a new job and have been grabbing lunch a lot and really noticed all the paper napkins and plastic forks they shove in the bag unnecessarily. I'm trying to bring my own lunch now and I'm going to treat my desk more like a second home keeping a bowl and cutlery there lol

I can definitely do that! Let me know if you find any good stuff!

First of all, I'm crazy about this look. I really like this type of video and I think you convinced me to finally make the leap on reusable cotton rounds. The eco swaps I'm already obsessed with are glass straws, metal chopsticks, Diva Cup, knitting kitchen rags, and crocheting vegetable bags. Like other people in the comments, my city has a bag ordinance - plastic is banned, paper costs 5¢. I really hope that catches on everywhere because, after a few weeks of adjustment, you saw nearly everybody carrying their reusable bags into stores with them. It really seemed like an easy switch for something that has a huge impact on the environment. Thank you for another great video!

Love this video. I'm lucky enough to work in a bulk foods store where we grind our own nut butters, and you can refill your olive oil, apple cider vinegar, tahini and tamari among all the usual refillable items. I love seeing people get so exited about the waste free shopping we offer when they come in. My favourite and easiest switch is a reusable coffee cup. All your Australian viewers would be aware of keep cup. There was a program about waste on our national network and after the segment on take away coffee cups the company had to employ a heap of new staff to keep up with demand. I love that this is growing in popularity, thanks for sharing your finds. The marley's monster range is gorgeous.

This video couldn't have come at a better time!!! I have been slowly switching things in my life to produce less waste. You have given me many more ideas. I am all about the reusable veggie/fruit bags and I already ordered 2 sets of the utensils. Also I learned from some of the commenters about bringing in bottles for bulk items like beans and rice and bringing our own to go containers when eating out. I really really enjoyed this video!!! Thank you for helping me become more aware❤️

Good idea about the "to-go"/"doggie" containers. Not sure I always know to bring them though, but maybe leaving some in the car is smart.

Really enjoyed this video! I use most of these reusable items already. I also take jars to the grocery store to put fresh ground nut butter and other bulk items in. Way back when, I had the cashier weigh my empty jars of different sizes and I have the tare written on each one. I always loved the idea of buying in bulk but thought it defeated most of the purpose if I used the plastic bags. This solves that problem! I like the fruit & veggie bags from Blue Avocado. They are fine mesh and usually the cashier can see the product number through them. I also have reusable bags made out of a parachute type fabric that fold up teeny tiny. I keep those in my purse mostly for non grocery shopping. They are super strong too so you can really stuff them full! 💚🌎💚🌍💚🌏💚

I have reusable bags that are similar to a windbreaker fabric and always keep one tied up in my purse so if I end up going to the store at random I'll always have at least one with me. I loved this video and agree to make this a series as things come along!

I use just about all of these swaps you've mentioned and I also switched to a menstrual cup to eliminate waste form tampons and pads. It took a bit of getting used to it but now I'm completely adjusted and feel so much better about my choice. When I own my own home one day I'd love to install a bidet to eliminate toilet paper waste! (I live in the US where bidets are not at all common).

Rhian HY they'll weigh them for you at the checkout counter :) that's what I did. Just took the jars straight to the counter to be weighed before I started shopping. Also, most of my jars are multiples of the same sizes, so I only had to get one of each size weighed, then I could label them all :)

Love ur shirt, purple is one of my fav colors and it looks so pretty on u! Purple & ur hair color are flattering together. And it shows ur tats nicely. Also, love the bendy straws! I didn't realize I could get them that way!! These r ALL things I've been meaning to buy... I just have been so busy I keep forgetting to figure out a brand and just buy the stuff. So thanks for giving some great options and reminding me! Ur such an awesome person! Just so real and honest, and always trying to be a good person in any way u can but also not judging others who r less aware. U do a great job at sharing ur knowledge and experience without making people uncomfortable or offended! Which is especially hard in the online community! I always relate to or agree with what u say about things. And I love ur tutorials and reviews - it helps me know how to best invest my money and use products properly. I didn't grow up in a family that's into self care type things, like expensive & quality skincare, make-up, clothes, etc. And I love natural & nicer products but don't have much to spend on it, so learning from u is really helpful to know what do invest in, and how to use it! I'm really good at teaching myself most things and love to learn about any form of healthing living, but "girly" type stuff has never come easy for me even though I enjoy certain parts of it. So thanks for all the helpful info and for making me feel more worthy of investing time and money on myself, without feeling guilty that it's "superficial" or "materialistic". Ur just wonderful and beautiful, inside and out! I hope things r going really awesome for u! You deserve so much happiness! I'm so glad I've had time recently to catch up on ur older videos that I hadn't seen. I've been following u for a year or more, but just don't always have time to watch ur videos, let alone older ones. It's been nice to kinda binge on them lately, lol. U got me into Kypris and Osea! Just when I was ready to find some awesome skincare, so thank u! I just made an order from detox market cuz of a free GWP they had. Bcuz of ur reviews on Kypris and Osea, I knew what to get and was able to get a $340 GWP with my $200 purchase! So exciting! Thanks babe! Love u

At my preferred store here they rebate 6 cents per bag! (WinCo in Oregon) I had my mom order stainless steel straws and she loves them - I'm trying to get through all of my current plastic straws then will order some for myself :) I'm slowly switching to reusable as much as I can (as I use up stashes of throw away crap) - I loved the little cotton squares you showed - I'm going to order some of those, or maybe make some! Great video!

I love your videos Rhian, you've honestly made me a more conscious person about waste and veganism. And you do it all without being condescending, so thank you for that :) I have started taking my own bags to the grocery store, and at first it did feel weird but then I realised that the cashiers don't really care - I'm the only one who is noticing it! I really like the Baggu reusable bags because they fold into little squares so I can take them everywhere

Things I still hate consuming is earplugs (have tried the plastic and wax ones but none are as good as the foam ones which get yuck after a while) and earbuds..... which I use more for makeup than ear-cleaning... and yes TOILET PAPER but I aint keen on washing reusable butt wipes LOL save that for if I have kids - will be using cloth nappys as much as poss.

I already replaced most of the dischargeable items. I have the straw, a silicone foldable cup, my menstrual cup and cloths, housewares, shopping bags. The only thing that I know I can't replace is the vegetable bags. Here in Brazil you have to weight them in closed plastic bags, obligatory. If your bag is open, the person that weights them close it for you, and you can't bring your own. At least at big supermarkets, in fairs or small ones I think it would be possible. Thank you for the tips. I personally loved the beauty related ones. Gotta get me some of those makeup erasers.

This might be a little awkward but, do you guys also wash up after going to the toilet? In my country, it seems like everyone does. We use soap and a bidet or a dipper ("tabo") with water to clean up, then we wipe ourselves dry with a bath towel or tissue. It decreases consumption of tissue somehow too. I just wondered because I saw an article about it at Facebook and there were a lot of people who were like "hey, that's a good idea" which probably means it is something new or unusual to them. I was unaware that there are people who don't do it since I've always thought that everybody does it. 😄
