I just started saddle hunting & went right into one sticking & I will admit there is a learning curve just like anything else but, it really isn't that hard at all & I personally enjoy the rappelling aspect to it much more than multi sticks. that being said i will use multiple sticks if I am doing some Pre-Sets on my Hunting Lease, so there are definitely benefits to both ways but, one sticking is really not that difficult as long as you have the right equipment. P.S. I'm 6' 250lbs. so I'm not in the best shape either, Food for Thought...

@@apexpredatoroutdoors8308 How can two tethers be lighter and more simple and quieter? That makes no sense, a Tether is made of the same stuff a pole belt is? So there for it can not be lighter or any more silent., It can not be more simple, because you need to synch it on twice. The only thing it could potentially be is more safe, but again, being more complicated, that adds an element of risk as well. But, I am a huge advocate for people using a system that makes sense to them, just dont be making outrageous claims! Good luck next season.

@MeatHunters my 2TC rig is constructed of a 30' section of sterling htp. A girth hitch is formed in each end, and it's connected to my saddle through two hitch cord (friction hitches). Total weight for the 2TC / saddle combination made with 9mm htp is just 3.5 lbs. It's much quieter as a result of being metal free.

Try the S.M.A.R.T. one stix method. It's actually safer, faster,(so fast lol) and easier. No, not a joke. Too many benefits to list. I hope you give it a try.
@Mat-Miller9 ай бұрын
You are going to have to explain why its safer and faster! It still requires more movements and it has a higher complexity to it, which inherently makes it more dangerous (Not saying it is dangerous)
@LIFEONTHELINE-xn8gs9 ай бұрын
@@Mat-Miller Sure. 1st thing I do is put a climbing line on the trunk of the tree. Then just plug in the stick to advance the rope and clip in. Then one can climb however they want (multi stick for example) Then when you advance the rope again you are standing still and lined in, so you advance the rope again. If I was multi sticking, I would climb like you, and just add the rappel rope. Making it safer if you slip. A whole lot safer than how folks are one sticking. So, when one sticking, instead of moving the rope by hand as you climb, you have it ahead of you keeping it tight. (NO SLACK). I use a mechanical advantage because I'm overweight and it makes it easy. Really. Easy. But that can be left out. I agree with you speed isn't as important. But since you asked me to explain. I get 8 feet (I'm 6ft) every move. That takes about a minute. after the first. Which is about a 1.5 min. No bs. I know it looks busy, but it is very simple. The only thing that's added is 2 little light weight rope pushers. The main point is this. You can't fall if you are attached to the tree, with a rope with no slack in it. I really appreciate you commenting. Plz investigate further. Give it try. Maybe save some folks. Thank again.

@@LIFEONTHELINE-xn8gshooking up a lifeline rope and advancing it up the tree while you climb with 4 or 6 steps sounds like a great idea! ...And if you want to return hunt you could just leave the sticks and rope in the tree and come back for the next day's hunt..safer, quiet, and easier to Hunt the tree the next day...
@LizardKing513 Жыл бұрын
One sticking is terrible. I did that for an entire hunting season and will never do it again. The fiddling with the ropes takes so much time, management and frustrating; very hard to climb trees with a lean; it’s not as quick to change trees; much more expensive than you think to get the proper gear; and your decending rope will get stuck in trees. These YT videos don’t show much of this, but if you hunt multi-limb trees, rough bark trees, be ready for the frustration trying to get the rope out. I’ve had to climb back up separate incidences to tie pull up ropes to the main rope to work it out of the tree. Not something you want to do when it’s pitch black outside. It’s not worth the weight savings and it’s all hype.
@Mat-Miller Жыл бұрын
That's my general impression as well mate. The biggest thing I find funny is that they say you are saving weight...
@wurdwalkupridedown78299 ай бұрын
If you're posting videos like this, you should make sure that you have the safety dialed in. The most dangerous part of the climb is transitioning to the platfrom....tether in before you step up! But as apex predator said, you can't beat 2TC for simplicity and packability. It's probably not as popular because there isn't much to market or have KZbinrs promote lol.

Buddy I can guarantee you I have climbed more vertical miles than you and my safety is so dialed in, I have even written safety procedures for industry.
