Thanks Mike. As a KZbin creator myself I gravitate to channels that have a sense of community. Letting folks know that they’re not out there alone. Being positive and kind is contagious. Showing folks they can change by changing yourself is inspiring. Thanks for reaching out. These words help folks. Finding the motivation to be better every day little by little pays big dividends.

@everydayman34972 жыл бұрын
@@hondomclean6759 how do you accomplish that on a video platform though? Serious question, not sarcasm.
@hondomclean67592 жыл бұрын
@everydayman3497 For example, if your subject matter is food and cooking, show the food and the cooking method. Not yourself. In the case of Shawn Ryan, one thing he does well is that the guest is subject matter and talks 85% of the time. The only time he interjects is when he agrees, disagrees or tries to relate to the subject matter. On a visual platform like KZbin look at these KZbinrs Soft White Underbelly Hot ones with First we feast Peter Santanello Charisma on command Don't worry so much on you, worry about your subject matter and be inpartial

Understanding who matters was taught to me early on in the military, a SMSgt told us at one point that you need to look at one thing; Look to your left and then to your right, these are the people that are standing NEXT to you, these are the people standing WITH you, these are the people you can COUNT on, not those standing behind you, those that stand next to you are with you, they are the ones you fight for and with, as THEY will do the same for you. Mike’s talk of community and purpose is too true, of the many things I miss from my time in the military, this is my biggest sorrow. People have lost that connection in the “real” world and maybe some have never truly had it in their lives, for those I feel that pain. Stand together, stand next to each other, reach out. I look at 2 to 3 generations of my fellow citizens and I see them growing up in a world without that connection of community and I see where that is taking us, it is not a good place. Help where you can. Be Safe out there.

I am very appreciative of his amendment to the statement of cutting out people who are negative in your life. He had said that a while ago now, and it got me thinking about someone very close to me in my life. Someone I've know for a very long time who had gotten into this rut, where everything was negative, and down, and I recognized-- they were bringing me down with them. The old saying 'misery loves company' has taken on a whole new meaning to me. but rather than cut them out, I told them and gave them a chance to realize how negative they were and how it was so self serving. I couldn't be happier that I did, rather than just cut them out and move on like I was prepared to...Because things for them, and between us seem so much better now.

Few times does the conversation, like you’ve apparently had, go positive. I literally had to move across country (Michigan to Texas)to remove myself from a very bad situation (family and friends) just so I could finally find some peace. Sometimes harsh words need to be said, and even more so, sometimes harsh actions need to happen to keep you sane.
@atlaslegionnaire37112 жыл бұрын
@@everydayman3497 I'm sorry you had to go to such lengths to find peace, but I am glad you found some. I know I am very fortunate that my experience was a positive one. I am so glad you told this story! We can’t give up on our loved ones, whether family or friends. We can set boundaries, this is VERY important to do. But, we can’t just give up. Words are important, but actions speak louder than words. Talk to people, then back it up with actions!

Amen, Mike, amen. I think you touched on the hardest part of the military life that no one talks about. No matter how good a soldier you were, no matter what you did or accomplished, the military eventually rolls on and leaves you behind. There's no program or benefit that they can give you to replace what you lose when the rest march off into the distance. It's on us to find it for ourselves and help each other.

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this. It's meaningful and impactful. We all need to hear this message repeatedly - every tiny little shove in the right direction is still going in the right direction. I had a little conversation with an acquaintance about "do better" vs "be better" recently and he thought "be better" was demeaning. Well, I need to be better, and if that word hits home maybe you do to. It doesn't mean you suck, it means you're just another person in the strange world we've created for ourselves. Working through disillusionment, complacency, and all the easy ways we have to distract ourselves is a big hill to climb.

SGM, this is one of the primary reasons I respect and follow you like I do. Had the pleasure of meeting you South of Fort Worth, TX (I'd told you I was 100% Disabled Veteran and then you recognized a tattoo on my forearm and told me your father had been in that division once. It was back last Summer, but you briefly spoke with me and when I had to leave you took a few minutes to say goodbye. You treated me like you genuinely cared about me. When I've always been in awe of you, what you stand for now and how you stood up AMCON in the beginning, teaching us how to be "real" Patriots and what that actually means. I can't thank you enough for all you continue to do for all of us, but especially what Veteran's are going through. Shortly after meeting you I sought out help with a Christian Counseling Center for what I had been struggling with for even now 40 years later. It has really benefited me tremendously, but it's like peeling back that onion. You understand. That plus my medical issues that are souvenirs from days gone by, in distant lands that I wish I could forget. However advice like this video is exactly the kind of kick in the butt that I need to hear. Thank you SGM, for taking the time to do this content. It seriously helps. STAY ALERT, STAY ALIVE!

Thanks Mike, you have an oldschool wisdom that resonates with me ...I never went the military route , was close a few times, feel I would have enjoyed it though.. much respect for those who went that route though ....one thing ive seen throughout my life is people's fear of failure ,at whatever it may be ....I've seen people talk for years about their dreams only to die without taking the plunge ...or not pursue a natural talent because fear of not being as good as someone else....even if they really want it the fear is stronger ....never made sense to me because the only time I've really learned anything important has come from me making mistakes, sometimes huuuge mistakes...but as long as your receptive to the lesson in it and own it , and your not too embarrassed and try to sweep it under the rug ...learning nothing ...you realise mistakes and failures are positive and you can respect yourself and find energy in fact you gave it a ripping good crack !!... good on ya Mike ya bloody legend ! from Oz 🇦🇺🇦🇺

This was great timing. I just went though a mental shift myself. Some one asked me, "What do you enjoy doing in the morning?" I told them, " I don't enjoy them. I wake-up early and work out so I can be the man I need to be, everything else in the morning is a responsibility. I'd rather sleep in. I'm going to be a better person by not being disciplined to try to do better in the morning and through out the day. Nobody else is going to improve me. It's up to me and Only me." Thanks for sharing Mike. (I've been cutting fat off life for a while, trying to keep focused and the good around me.)

Figuring out what the problem is, hearing both sides of the argument, figuring out what the other person needs from you to move forward, and handling it all with tact is my purpose right now. Mediation and proper communication would cut down on a lot of peoples problems and hopefully bring down those statistics. Take care

I work level I trauma in major metropolitan area as a pulmonary and critical care doctor. The last few years have been no joke. I completely agree with what he says about overdoses, they have skyrocketed. He is absolutely right that people are becoming very desperate and are looking for a way out. People don't have money, they do not have the resources, there are not enough resources, and it is very difficult for many to navigate and find resources because of bureaucracy and red tape. I have never seen more violence and trauma in my 20yr of practicing than I am seeing right now. This why we are seeing so many mass shootings. People have no hope, and it is exceedingly difficult for the vast majority of people to dig themselves out of these predicaments. There are a bunch of things that anybody absolutely has to have some help to figure out and fix. I'm grateful that I have a firm passion and purpose when I wake up each morning. I am blessed to have that for me. But it is still incredibly difficult at times. This is great advice and I appreciate your awareness, concern, empathy, and compassion to reach out. Perhaps it will reach some people who need just this kind of spark to get started, and it may profoundly help them. There is nothing better than service and helping your fellow man. Nothing.
