I put together a capsule collection of only 8 items & styling tips making it EASY for you to get what you need and simply start dressing formally, business casual or even casually so you can look good and feel good and be confident with whatever your life throws at you.
This video is intended for those who are are starting from scratch. Maybe you are going to go to university and need an upgrade, perhaps you are a student transitioning to the real world and you don’t own a single dress shirt or perhaps you want to change from street style to a little bit more classy style.
Whatever your reason, this video goes over 8 essential, easy to get items, that will make your life more stylish and convenient for dressing well.
After, I’ll go over three different scenarios or occasions and what I’d wear using only my 8 piece capsule collection.
If you need some help putting together your custom capsule wardrobe, send me a message here and we can set up a video call to get started: www.principlem...

Great Video. I like your style, it is well presented and built on classic menswear rules and proportions at the same time it has that modern touch to it wit the soft shoulders. I can tell that you have experienced alot and worked with many tailors to reach to this point. I agree with the pieces that you mentioned in the video especially the denim shirt, it is a magical piece that can be used whatever the ceremony is. I would like to add grey trousers as it can be really versatile, this also goes to olive green trousers. both of them are really good colors for a start. on top of those , a knitwear tie can be part of capsule wardrobe as well. thank you very much for sharing, I enjoyed this quality content and subscribed to your channel.

You are absolutely right and read my mind. I had a grey trouser and knit grenadine tie on the original list, but I thought 8 pieces is more approachable than 10 for beginners. However, those who find this video interesting and delve into the comments will see this thanks to you and your suggestions. I"ll set this comment to the top!

Finally I found someone else who likes pleated chinos with cuffs! I like all my wool dress pants pleated with cuffs. I like my dark wash jeans with a pleat and creased. I like that your blue suit is not that bottomless blue/black that I see on nautical blazers with brass buttons. I love that nautical look but with a blue that I can see as actually being blue in color

I’m a HUGE fan of pleats and ironing a crease into my more casual chinos or jeans. I’m making a comparison of skinny fit and classic fit chinos now, I think you will like that video!

I think you’ve nailed the basics. I’m currently working on rebuilding my wardrobe and this was of great help building confidence in the pieces I already have. Living with four seasons the piece I was missing was a sweater. My personal favourites are full zip merino and turtleneck 😊 looking forward to more great content!

Glad it was helpful! The think I love about this capsule collection is adding other classical pieces over time only made a fuller, broader repetoire that will work with everything, like a full zip merino sweater and turtleneck like you mentioned. I'll keep the content coming, I hope you enjoy the content and continue watching and commenting!

Great video. I love the emphasis on items that can be washed at home, it’s such an overlooked but critical point when starting out. Can you please share the brands of the items used? Thank you.
@Justin_Kwan

Yeah, its important to be able to easily take care of the clothing, like machine wash. All of the items are from PRINCIPLE M, a brand I started over 10 years ago. We focus on tailoring but we are rolling out more RTW. We are based in Beijing and launching our international website soon, so please stay tuned!

It's a great list, but I think what makes the list exceptional is not the items but the quality of the items you chose. Showing the difference/importance between quality and quantity is so important. Directing people to where they could purchase each item would be an excellent way to help young men on their journey to style.

Great advice. When starting your wardrobe, you are never out of style with “classic style!” Likewise, I agree, non pleat and tight are not comfortable and are not great look. A navy suit is great advice. I’ve worn several navy suit jackets as a blazer, long after the trousers are worn. You could even replace the buttons with brass blazer buttons to complete the look! Keep up the good work! 🙏🏻

Nice video. My only difference from what you presented is, I like suspenders over a belt. For starters a belt puts more emphasis on your torso and can cut the body in half. This can be bad if your a bit over weight, or shorter then you would like. Second I find suspenders put more focus on your chest, and draws the eyes more seamlessly up and down giving the illusion that your taller then you actually are. Third, I like hugs and suspenders feel like a hug I can enjoy all day long. Loved your video, you just got a new subscriber.
@Justin_Kwan

Hi Chris, I agree with all your points, especially #3, I love hugs, too! I'll take a deeper dive into suspenders and belts at some point in a video, surprisingly there is a lot to talk about in that topic! Thanks for your subscribe :)

Excellent video! You do a very nice job. Your advice is spot on. I have recently lost 45 pounds, so I am starting from scratch. Being 70 years old, dressing with some style fits my age. As I have watched many men's style videos, I would like to share some advice, at least from my perspective. Seeing the styles presented is one thing, but knowing the brands presented is just as important. It would be really helpful either in the video or notes as to provide that information. I look forward to your next video.

I'm planning on launching an international website in the coming months, so please stay tuned. Just to give you an idea of quality and price, our shirts have hand detailing (sleeve set by hand, buttons and button holes hand stitched) and a Japanese denim fabric, and we sell the denim shirt for around $135 and those denim trousers are under $150 at the current exchange rates.

Excellent tips and suggestions, friend. You’re pointing folks into the right direction! I’ve been improving myself sartorially for about two years now, and have made some great progress following similar guidelines that you’ve laid out here. May I ask where you found your denim jeans? I wear high rise trousers exclusively now, but all jeans I’ve found thus far have been the modern mid rise style. I’d love a pair like yours!

don't wear a suit jacket without the matching trousers, always get a sports coat for casual outfits
@Justin_Kwan
@Justin_Kwan Жыл бұрын
I would agree with you unless the jacket of the suit is lightly structured, making it easier to break up and wear separately without looking too rigid or formal with odd trousers or chinos. If the suit jacket has heavy shoulder padding and more canvassing in the chest and shoulder, it will look quite formal, which contradicts that ‘casual’ look one might be going for when breaking up a suit and wearing the jacket casually.

Thanks, I designed them and made them. (Full disclaimer) I started a classical menswear brand called Principle M in Beijing. I’ve been focused on building the brand here over the last ten years: from MTM to bespoke and building out and designing a classical menswear collection. Although we are well established in China with a physical shop, webshop and social media, we haven’t set up an international website. Based on some initial reaction from you amazing KZbinrs, I may have to focus some effort on getting a website going!

@Justin_Kwan Жыл бұрын
Yes, you should wash your shirts every time you wear them! I'll post a video soon about 'how to find a quality shirt' and if its good quality, it should last several years. One more point on suede shoes, I'd like to say actually a good quality pair of suede shoes is super easy to take care of--for example, if it rains, let them dry and just brush them or if they are dusty, just brush them--very easy to take care of and they go with everything from this capsule!

@Justin_Kwan
@Justin_Kwan Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your opinion but I beg to disagree. First, I think by dressing well you will naturally attract attention from others because humans are attracted to that which is aesthetically pleasing. Second, I believe women will also be drawn to a man that pays attention to his clothing, which is a sign he takes good care of himself and thus will take good care of her. Anyways, that’s just my opinion.

"Yes!" is the simple and quick answer but it also depends on the restaurant. There are some fancy restaurants that still require a tie, but those are few and far nowadays.
