Just watched this video and love what you have done! Mixed media is something that I’m not comfortable with, but you make it look easy. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!!

Beautiful project. That piece looks like a perfect match to the cabinet. It turned out absolutely stunning. I am just getting started in the mix media world. I also made cards. Simple clean lines like you started. But what got me started in mixed media was I do beading. I was looking for something unique for earring hang cards and tags for bracelets and necklaces. That got me into gelli printing. cutting the prints into hang tags for earrings. Well now I am hooked. I am learning from you and other mixed media artist how to embellish and spice then up to the next level. Thank you so much for sharing your creative spirit with us. Your work is truly beautiful and inspiring.

I would not stop, I’d add vintage photo on the edges. Probably a sentiment.

Ingrid! I am only just starting this video as I missed the stream, being in the UK! It would have gone out at midnight. It would be good if you could put a community post up when you are doing a live (if that's possible) so that one of these weekends I will stay up into the wee small hours and watch at the time. I am new to mixed media art but totally addicted and changing my direction from crochet and fibre crafts. Everything you do is so informative and creative - I am watching lots of your previous videos too. One thing I'd love you to explain is what the difference is between all these mediums! Matte medium, gloss medium, bindex, gel, gesso, heavy, light, crackle, texture never mind all the different brands. What are the must-haves if you are starting out in collage and mixed media/gel printing etc? What are the essential and best buys that are available worldwide? xx Kathryn

Hi Kathryn!! Thank you so much for watching. I do try to give notice when I can, this was a little impromptu on Sunday. Sorry about that! Will try to get better in the future. Those are great questions. Love the idea of going over all that. I will definitely add that to my list. Thanks for the idea!!! (And I will definitely let you know ahead of time!) I appreciate you watching and commenting. Means a lot to me. 😘

I know I'm way late to the show but I love your videos. I learn so much! I have a question. What is the difference between distress stain and the Distress Oxide?
@glendapaul80402 жыл бұрын
It the cover, distress let's the background show through and I believe oxide cover. 😀

Hi Joye I was watching a Tim Holtz video a few days ago and he explained this... the Distress Dyes and Stains have a dye that produces their colour, but the oxides have dye and pigment. The two together generally give a stronger colour but it always depends on how much you use and what technique you use. x

Such a great question! Yes, stain is water based dye vs oxide that is a mix of dye and pigment. One of the biggest differences is that with stain (watered down reinker of the distress inks) it's highly water reactive in a sense if you were to flick water on it, it would lighten, usually creating a clear spot the longer that water is left on it. If you were to flick water at oxides...it would create a milky finish giving an oxidized look of that color due to the hybrid nature of the dye/pigment mix. Another difference...with dyes, if you were to say have a layer of yellow, dry it then add blue on top, since so water reactive, the moisture from the blue would reactivate the yellow underneath, even though it's dry and you'd have green. With oxides, once dry...the yellow wouldn't reactivate, and you could layer blue on top without turning it green. Only if dry. If wet, they would combine like normal. The moisture from the blue would however oxidize the yellow giving that milky finish. Hope that helped!! Glad you enjoy the videos. 😘
