Went down to the big crick Sunday and it was way up and i caught four outta of a flooded handicap ramp that weaved back and forth down to the river at normal stage. it has pipe handrails and had all kinds of debris trapped in it. Had to punch thru it with seven ounce weights and a night crawler ball it was full of eater flatheads. Was back at the house and had em filleted in an hour. Three females full of eggs and one male. High cool water definitely slowed the spawn. Great vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏🏾

The 300 would be just fine and more fun to fight the fish, but it doesn't have a clicker. If you want a clicker, you gotta get the 400. You should tag piscifun in a post requesting a clicker on the 300. I've been trying to talk them into it.

I’ve read mixed information about the channel and flathead spawn. I believe your comment that channels spawn prior to flatheads is incorrect. At the moment, our local water temp is 74-78 degrees, and I’ve been catching flatties with bite marks from the spawn for about 3 weeks. The channel cats I’m catching near runs in shallow gravel bottom locations seem the just be starting.

Nice, except for the knee deep gumbo y'all were trying to move along that fairly steep bank on. Ever had one you couldn't turn, are really ever get to stop. We were fishing at the end of a dam on sandstone cliffs with shrimp, and the old southern favorite chicken livers. Each had several poles out to different depths, but fot the most part everyone else using bass rigs med heavy with 30 lb line, and being it was early 80's mono was the only choice. I have a old 2 piece surf rod 11' with good back none and a nice yip for launching 1 Oz weight long way. With good old spin cast reel from diawa. Forgive the spelling. Anyway we caught several in the 5 to 10 pound range channel cats, and the one blue about 8 lbs over several hours that night, and it was around midnight just as the moon came over the dam shining across the flat water. And the surf rod started slowly bending, then it stopped and stood back up. Few minutes later hear this creaking noise, and looked behind us where I'd stuck the long handle down in a crack in the sandstone. It was bent nearly flat from about halfway up the rod. You could actually see the side to side motion of the fish swimming away, but it was just slowly pulling drag off the big reel. I pulled on that fish for 30 minutes and best I could do was keep it from spooling me, but it never changed direction it stayed going deeper the whole time. When it hit the knot where I'd tied the good line to the filler line. I finally just cranked the drag down as tightly as I could twist the handle Leaned back and pulled as hard as I could, cause once the know cleared the spool it was over, and sure enough with a few big head shakes, and all of a sudden it ripped line off the reel faster than I could crank the handle. I had just enough line left to hang off the end of the pole It was obvious where the lune had came apart at the knot. Biggest fresh water fish I've ever felt on the end of a fishing pole, and I have two over 50 lbs I've caught on heavy bass rods fishing at night for big bass in NE Texas, but they didn't pull anything like that.
@RiverCertified5 ай бұрын
There's some tanks out there. It's hard to imagine a flathead pulling like that but who knows. Thanks for watching man.
@jimmylowe12335 ай бұрын
Do you have sturgeon in your area sounds like possibly could have hooked onto one of those.
@timothymilam7325 ай бұрын
@@jimmylowe1233 nope I don't believe they are anywhere near NE Texas, but we do have alligator gar that get up 300 lbs and 10' long, and blue catfish thar break 100 lbs. Which is what I'm thinking I got hooked up with that night I've always wanted to catch a big alligator gar, as well as a big sturgeon. Unfortunately I'm past the point if being able to do either these days. Which is fine, because I have caught some nice catfish, some excellent large mouth, hybrids of decent size, even a few striped bass, couple sharks, and assorted fresh and salt water fish in my day. So I honestly can't complain if I missed a few on the list I once had, but that just means someone else gets the opportunity to catch them, and hopefully a lot more in their lifetime. That's good enough for me, and I have a friend of mine up in the Dakotas working, and maybe he'll get the chance. He's already been catching some big walleye. Which I only caught a few of those back around same time as the one I spoke of. Up in SE Oklahoma between 18" and 24", I've caught a nice variety of different fish from Texas Oklahoma Arkansas to Alabama and in between. Not a lotta folks will ever be lucky enough to fish everywhere I have, so I'm fortunate enough to have memories of many trips with friends and family. Hope you catch yourself some of those on your own list that you haven't caught yet.
