this I would say is a decent starter build for meta lock tanks, however once you get some gear and spell power, you can respec and lose the demonic embrace points and focus on a more oriented destro spec. this in turn will overall help with damage output thus generating more threat. with Searing pain being instant cast you can build around this having your searing pain deal upward of 200-300 damage per hit

if you havent already got them, work on getting your epic boots, these help with survivability and taunt swaps if your second tank is struggling to steal aggro off you

I've ran both this build and the lake of fire setup, and both are fun but this build is just so good for every situation. It's great for solo play, and its great when playing with undergeared or new players. My main raid group has a few new players and some old guys, so running this build lets me sustain forever and lets healers focus more on covering mistakes in the raid. Its awesome!

Great guide. Do you pvp with this build? Or do you switch then?

Thank you! I have tried to pvp with meta a couple times when I first got it but at the time didn't really know it as well as I do now. Obvously with tank the damage won't be as good. I tend to switch to a haunt or chaos bolt build when I pvp. Maybe I should give it another shot :)

Funny thing is all aoe taunts are also 10 mins but they should be lower tbh like 5.

All the top parsing lock tanks are destro spec and running lake of fire rune. Demonic grace is also pretty trash.

This late into phase 1 when people are geared really well, that's probably true. I did kind of graze over the destruction as a way to go in the video. When people are fully BiS or have good groups to carry damage wise, destruction route is good. This is more of defensive way of tanking vs the destruction offensive way of tanking. But you make a good point :)

how could you graze over destro when searing pain is where the dmg comes from? even early in sod, all lock tanks were pushing fire dmg. playing "defensive" as a tank is what 24 parsers do. threat is the bottleneck in SoD, not healing. as a tank, ALWAYS GEAR FOR DAMAGE get rid of that trash staff, get improved imp and drop embrace. @@Dayreid_

Another commenter assuming that 100% of the playerbase are neckbeard 100 parsers lol. I run this exact build just so I don’t have to deal with the annoyance of any hardcasting…and guess what, I don’t have threat issues, and the fights are 30 sec-1 min soooo my little extra dps id get from running incinerate/lof is whatever anyway

Sometimes I will use immolate but I’m not stressing out about keeping them up at all times if that makes sense. It doesn’t hurt you to use them

How did you get Demon Charge and Aoe taunt I have the meta rune and I don’t have demon charge or the other taunt

Demon Charge & Demonic Howl should be in your demonology tab of your spell book. If you aren't in Metamorphosis form they won't show up in book. So try using Meta form then looking at demonology tab. :)
