Such a simple yet powerful trick with the dice containers to pull the players in! Awesome video, looking forward for more 🍻

Thanks man! I started doing it somewhat randomly one day and now it is one of the essentials!

When I first started playing ttrpgs 24 years ago, it was the new D&D 3rd edition player's handbook, my cousins and siblings, a few pencils and pieces of paper. And it was magical. Fast forward to today, where I use all manner of physical props, music, miniatures, and terrain. I recently picked up a model train set, complete with lights, sounds, and a little steam-engine, just for one encounter. It is so fun to build these setups and see the looks on the player's faces when you do the reveal! I think my favorite prop was a "Crazy Board" for investigating a mystery. It was a big thumbtack board with newspaper clippings, photos, and string. The players got to add clues, make connections, and try to solve the mystery over a 4-session adventure!

Wow, you have played TTRPGs almost longer than I am alive 😅 The adventurers and stories you've seen with your mind's eye must be plenty! Oh yes, pen and paper are still magical for sure! I've run a couple of sessions while traveling with just my DM essentials and they were always so magical...especially when you go camping and play in the evening, wonderful! Still, when I run games in the "game room" I just love to fill it as full of interesting stuff as I can...but I do have some hoarding tendencies 👀 And yes, the "crazy board" is a must for investigative games. Whenever we play CoC I have a small one in the corner :)

I love props but I'm not very talented with my hands. And rarely play in-person games. Still when I have a chance I try to have something prepared.

Well, the point of these types of decoration is that you don't really need to be skilled to do it...and i really think it adds something to the experience :) AI also opens up making posters and handouts to all of us that have zero ability to draw, some might hate it ...but man it helped with so many set pieces that my players loved, so I say go for it!
