Ha issues at first.. best way to do it if u have an i4 is to park in ur garage download all updates with home WiFi then switch to hotspot…. Gets all the glitches out the way

You didn’t show how to connect to phones hotspot. I’ve just bought one and after 5 seconds of loading it crashed and disconnect’s. Any solution? I’ve tried to with a SIM card in but when I goto use mobile date part it says insert a sim then crashes

No, it needs to be connected to the USB data port, not the charging ports.

Does it have built in CarPlay? If so, it should work. I believe you have iDrive 7.0 which is supported.

it uses the apple car protocol to run. If you don't have car play it will not work.

Hmm, I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that all Wireless CarPlay cars come with wires as well. It’s just one of the USB ports that acts as the connection. This X7 is also advertised as ‘wireless CarPlay’, wired is not mentioned anywhere

I bought this device, the usb is for power supply. It is specific for bmw because it manages the setting up phase by managing autonomously the Carplay asocciation procedure with the bmw wifi system. It works but I have some delay during video steaming (audio is late respect video). I have an x3 g01with idrive6

Bought one from Ali at a low price but it's pretty disappointing. Loses connection at power on many times, takes minutes to boot/connect sometimes and sometimes hope for tomorrow. Only iDrive control on mainscreen. No widgets or interface like the P3. Android Auto functionality lost. Some apps don't coop with the device/screenresolution. Annoying button always in the wrong place. When working also good things of course. Outlook, Whatsapp, YT, Netflix, camera apps working well. Will keep it I think hoping for future software updates. G31 2023.

@@igallagher4 After 2 weeks connection issues seem to be gone, I didn't see an update but must have been, some apps were reset to default (?) much more stable now. Some times direct startup, sometimes when listening to radio after a minute or 2 (annoying startupscreen cannot be disabled). Still too bad the controls are only touch and some apps are hardly working or not at all because of ratios I think. Was able to see some livestreams and Outlook and Whatsapp is working fine now. Cannot use Android auto with phone in combination but thats the limitation of the car system.
