When we want to indicate that one thing causes another, we often use a causative verb. They're jolly handy, but not always easy to use. There's a lot to cover so this is a two part lesson. In this first video we'll see lots of examples and check the meanings of the most common causative verbs (make, let, and have).
Causative verbs follow different structures and the most common ones are a bit strange. So in our next video we dive into the grammar so you know the patterns to follow to use causative verbs correctly.
Here's the link to part two. • English Causative Verb...
The causative verbs 'have' and 'get' are often used in the passive (have/get something done). Here's a link to our video about that.
• Have something done - ...

@SimpleEnglishVideos
@SimpleEnglishVideos 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marco. This is Jay writing back to you. All three of those choices work, but I would say, "Have you installed the necessary programs to allow your new laptop to operator properly." So 'programmes' is perfectly OK in British English, but 'programs' is American English :-) And the preposition 'to' before 'operate' is necessary, and i added the adverb 'properly' to further explain what I was asking. Take good care and thanks for watching our videos.
