I had an English teacher called Jay and he is British.I love all yours classes!

So glad you like the videos Josenildo and that's interesting about your teacher's name because Jay isn't a very common name in British English. When I first heard Jay's name I thought it sounded like his parents had only given him one letter as a name - like they'd made a start, and then forgotten to finish the word. :-)

Hello, at 4:17 Jay says " No, I want to know what you THOUGHT of my presentation". Now, I'm sure it is correct, but what if he had said "No, I want to know what you THINK of my presentation"?. are both correct? Any difference (regional, in nuance, etc)? And maybe even "no, I wanted to know what you think/thought of my presentation". Are all these interchangeable? Thanks.
@SimpleEnglishVideos5 жыл бұрын
Hi Altre. Of course context matters, but on first reading, I'd interpret them as a straightforward tense difference. So the first one probably refers a a presentation that was just or was previously given, and the second one refers to a presentation that's regularly given or will be given in the future. Maybe other viewers will have other ideas.
@altrefrontiere23545 жыл бұрын
Hi. Many thanks. That clarifies a lot. I understand the logic behind your explanation. It has always puzzled me that use of "thought" after a simple present (I WANT to know what you THOUGHT). Thanks again!

Hi guys, your channel is amazing, I've been learning a lot from you.I just have one note to leave: sometimes the audio just disappears in some parts of the vid, I think you should prevent audio problems from happening to avoid us of being upset :).(I used your teachings to feed back info about your video, I think I'm starting to learn.)Thanks guys.
@SimpleEnglishVideos8 жыл бұрын
Hi Fabian - sorry to hear you're having trouble with the audio. We're not having a problem and aren't sure what it could be. Was there a particular place in this video where the audio disappears? If you have a moment, could you give me the time on the clock when it happens?
@SimpleEnglishVideos8 жыл бұрын
Oh and I love the way you've been able to incorporate 'avoid' into your response. Thanks so much for writing and we're so glad you like the videos.
@fabianologfatec8 жыл бұрын
Yep, sure. At these points Vicky's voice gets so down that is difficult to understand, and it forces me to raise the volume, but when Jay speaks it gets too high, it's given me a hard time adjusting the volume. 1:59, 2:24, 4:11, 5:49; and at 6:11 it gets even worse.I've experienced the same problem in some other videos.
@SimpleEnglishVideos8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this Fabiano. We generally record Jay on one track and me on another and I am wondering if you are just hearing one track. Jay is our sound guy and I'll get him to look into it. These time references will be a big help.
@SimpleEnglishVideos8 жыл бұрын
Fabiano, the right track is there but for some reason, you're missing it. Jay reckons the most likely cause is your headphone jack isn't fully plugged in or there's damage to a wire. We record our voices on two separate tracks (or more if there are three or four of us) and we don't want to stop that because it gives more depth and realism. If one of us is positioned on the left, you hear their voice louder in the left hand track and only quietly on the right hand track. In sections of our videos or in other videos where there's only one person on screen speaking this wouldn't be a problem. But it could be a problem with other videos where there are multiple voices as well if they are using different tracks to produce stereo effects. Does our suggestion (check jack and wire) make sense?
