Air Canada's Reactivated Boeing 767s: The 5 Routes They Will Fly In 2025

In 2025, Air Canada will fly passenger Boeing 767s again. We emphasize PASSENGER flights because the airline has already been using the type for cargo flights. It’s also notable that the Star Alliance member had leased an Omni Air International passenger 767 in June/July 2024, continuing what it did in 2019, 2020, and 2023.
However, Air Canada will return to using its own passenger 767s for the first time since 2020, when Rouge also ceased flying the aging, but beloved, widebody type. It helps Air Canada that the jets are already paid off, although this is counterbalanced by higher fuel consumption and maintenance requirements. Nonetheless, we examine where exactly the airline plans to deploy these aircraft once they re-enter service!

It's amazing how the 757 and 767 remain so popular with the airlines that operate them. The fact that they're all paid off is probably a significant factor, but so is their reliability and performances.

I AM A RETIRED AC PILOT WITH AC 38 YRS SERVICE . AC CANADA NEVER HAS OWNED ANY OF ITS PLANES IT HAS ALWAYS LEASED THEM JUST 97% OF ALL AIRLINES DO . THE ONLY 3 AIRLINES IN THE WORLD THAT PAY CASH AND BUY THEIR OWN AIRCRAFT STRAIGHT FROM MANUFACTURERS. THEY ARE EMIRATES, KOREAN, EHIHAD .
@sainnt
@sainnt 2 ай бұрын
@@kodyadams5561While it is true that airlines mostly lease their aircraft, a significant number of them own the planes outright, and it's not just the 3 that you mentioned. Many airlines have the option to purchase their aircraft after years of leasing, and Emirates is one of them, as they recently did with some A380s earlier this year. The main reason why airlines like Delta and United have such a large fleet of 757s and 767s is because they own those aircraft now.

Many enthusiasts sleep on the 767, it’s overlooked for what it provided to commercial aviation. It was the first twin engine wide body, also first twin engine to regularly cross the Atlantic ushering in the twin engine era. Far superior passenger comfort, and a good safety record. Yet, most can’t let the dated 757 go….

I've flown many time on the 767-300ER ( and once on the smaller 767-200). In the late 2000's, before the 777-200LR arrived, Air Canada used to fly some 767's on trans-Pacific routes to Autralia, with a stopover in Honolulu. Always a positive experience.

My Dad was trained on the 767 in Seattle during the first two weeks of December 1982. After he and his crew passed their exam, they flew the test plane home with them, afterwards it became the first 767 scheduled flight out of YYZ. It seems funny to hear about the 767 being a dinosaur since I knew it as the most advanced and modern airplane in the skies.

I flew on AC's 767 from Palm Springs to Vancouver back in 2017. Fun fact: the 767 is the largest commercially-operated jet allowed at Palm Springs International Airport and this route was the first and only one to operate it. The plane was pretty empty and it was weird to fly on such a short flight out of such a tiny airport on a wide body.

But will it actually happen in the long run? With China Southern selling its 787-8 fleet, it's possible that Air Canada will buy some or all of the 10 planes up for sale, and that could make keeping the 767-300(ER) in Air Canada operations superfluous.

Yes, 6 of them are now freighter but they're still a few left in long term storage that can be put back into service if needed. I won;t be surprised Rouge getting back the 767's or eventually the A330's to help with the leisure market

Pretty sure Air Canada will try to densify coach cabin to 9 across because they cannot allow coach passengers to have an enjoyable flight )otherwise nobody woyld pay for premium economy). And if they can't go from 7 to 9 across they will reduce seta pitch wt 27". So it all depends on what the coach seating will be like to determine if the 767s will be better than ACMs 787/777 crippled cattle class.

34 years old .... makes me WINCH ....I am glad I never .....Ever ..>EVER fly air canada even if I live in Canada.. sounds like a money hungry move based on greed that likely won't end well. fuel costs and repairs?? Cry my a River... all lfights are more expensive and all baggage and other fees have all doubled or tripled .. so I feel nothing for them. Their pockets will be deep with this if it doesn't rip apart or crash
