Annual Potato Harvest, Planting Garlic & Putting the Garden to Bed | Saying Goodbye to a Friend

It's never easy to say goodbye to a beloved companion, we sadly had to do just that for our wild and speckled pup Bandit. You were a tremendous part of our everyday lives and we are so grateful for all the time we were able to spend with you over the years. Life won't be the same without you. We will cherish you always and never forget you stampeding around as if running was the only option, splashing and digging in any possible body of water, and most of all, looking after us. We love you Bandit, may you roam free now bask in the sunshine forever ❤️
It's the end of the growing season here in Alaska, we spend several days pulling up spent vegetables, weeding and mulching the garden beds with a good dosage of compost, leaves and straw. We also dig up our yearly supply of potatoes and get our garlic planted. After all the garden work is done we make Kolduny, a fried potato pancake filled with caribou meat and onion.

My dog passed away with me by his side, petting him 2 months and 13 days ago. The only dog I'd ever got to have, i planned for years, got a job he could come with, twice, a van for him, a cabin, then when that all fell apart, a yacht on the marina away from other dogs, then a house. 8.5yrs was all I got. The single saddest thing in my life ever. And I've been through and overcome some serious stuff. Nothing compares to losing the unconditional love of my best friend. 😢

I didn’t expect to watch your video today and to start crying….. I’m 73 and at a turning point in my life. I’ve been “owned” by a lot of dogs over the years. I had an absolutely psychotic pup that no one wanted at the shelter. He pretty much disliked everyone except me. He was loving and protective of me til his last breath. He had cancer and was 11 years old when I took him for a walk in the snow. He could barely walk and fell several times. I took him inside and dried him off while he looked at me with his soft eyes. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and left this plane of existence. I know how you must feel. I cried when he passed, not ashamed to say so. He's been gone 8 years but I still think of him often. Rest in Peace Bandit

Bandit lived as all dogs should live. He was loved and able to do all the things he was made to do. To run, to dig, to play, to trust, and to remain a faithful and devoted companion. We had to make the hard decision to put our faithful Labrador named Sam to sleep. We asked him if he wanted to go to the beach, he looked at us with pure love and wagged his tail just before the vet helped him out of his pain. Our hearts will always hold that sweet moment. You will always be a better person because of loved shared between you, Bandit and Bo.

I’m so sorry about Bandit. We thought so much of your boys. I’m currently sitting here holding my sweet Sam (a yorkie) who is 14 this year and we will be having him put to sleep in the next month. He has a large tumor in his abdomen as well as other ailments. It’s so hard seeing him go down hill so quickly but as you said, I’d rather do it while he’s still feeling pretty good. I've had a lot of pets, all who've meant the world to me. But the one I'm missing most recently is my friend and neighborhood cat Brickster. We first met when he started pooping in my garden, and i knew I had to befriend him to change that behavior. Over time, we learned to trust each other, and I fell in love with friendly, loud, happy black and white male cat. I saw him every day, every single time i was out in my garden, he'd run towards me , tail up, with a loud meow of greeting, such a good friend. And the surprise garden poops ended, lol! Im a truck driver and had Bella bug, and bubba who was my truck driving dogs and they lived for riding with mom and dad in the trucks, keep us safe. My husband passed in 2014 and bubba passed a week after his dad and bella bug stay (to keep her mom safe) but a year to the day she passed away also get her dad and brother needed her on the other side of the rainbow to.. now I still have Oliver, but he had to stay home, the road got to hard after losing all of them. Our fur babies give us so much joy but the heartbreak is real. Bo and Bandit are together running free with no aches and pains!! We viewers enjoyed them so much, thank you for sharing them.

Thankyou for sharing Bandit with us. He was a beautiful dog. Im 65 and have lost 11 beautiful pups over the years including childhood family doggies. Some of my favourite memories are of a little stray dog who followed me home from school when i was 8 years old..he was a scruffy little mutt we called Timmy, and went on every adventure with us. He love to chase seagulls and rabbits, swim in the ocean, gi fishing on the boat, he even went surfing with me. He was a mighty dog in a tiny body. He lived for 20 years, a cherished and honoured family member. It broke our hearts when he finally passed. Every dog who has heen in my life has left little footprints all over my heart. My 2 current doggies Molly and Frankie are now 8 and 9 years old and are my guardians. ❤❤ . RIP sweet Bandit, Spikie, Timmy, Ryan, Deisel, Bella, Dapper, Charlie, Buddy, Bundy, Bonny and Clyde.❤❤

So sorry to hear about Bandit…our beloved 7 year old Lulu cat diagnosed with large cell lymphoma few weeks ago is rapidly declining and we are all heart broken…it’s sad losing our furry pals
